*clears throat*

Um hi, everyone.

I have something of a favour to ask. I know that with the many people here, there's going to be a lot of different tastes in music which is exactly what I need to call upon. Myself and my partner are getting married in February and we have diametrically opposed tastes in music. It's a highly frustrating situation! I like rock, orchestral, emo, and male vocalists - he likes female vocalists like Sarah McClachlan, K's Choice, Shawn Colvin and the like.

Now, we've compromised on hymns/songs for the service (there's space for two so one each ), but there's three pieces we need to pick:

- what I walk into the church to (a bridal march, except I don't like the traditional bridal march)
- what we walk out of the church to
- our first dance.

We've picked one tune so far which could probably go in any of these slots which was by Dana Glover, but it's taken me several months and most of my CD collection to find that one so what I'm asking from you is: do you know any cool love songs/tunes? The only thing I'd ask is that there's no bad language.

Oh, and one other thing: we can't walk out to the Star Wars theme (even though it's great) because our friends have already done it. And anyone who suggests I walk in to the Imperial theme will be glared at like this: :smallannoyed:

P.S. And no Benny Hill.

P.P.S. I'm pickier than I thought! :smallwink:

My immediate response would be for you to walk out to Dream Theater - I Walk Beside You, but I don't know if he'd be okay with it. At the moment I have no ideas for the other two.

AE:
four seasons spring - not a fan, sorry - it's been done at a lot of weddings, same as Pachelbel's Canon unfortunately.
Battle Without Honour Or Humanity certainly hasn't been done at a wedding, but is slightly... sinister.
Einie Kleine Nachtmusik - Mozart - ooooh you are in so much trouble for that one, though I suppose it'll teach me to look at links before I click on them. Not keen on the actual music, sorry :(

Jalor: that's made it straight on to our list of ones to consider!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding

When my husband and I got married we were lucky enough to meet a string quartet composed of very talented music students who were willing to play at church for us.

They played Bach's Jesu, Joy Of Man's Desiring (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpJ9p_3GBVc) as the bridal march (I didn't really like the traditional march either).

And then Bach's Brandenburg (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZ9qWpa2rIg) as we walked out.

The other pieces we had chosen were those:
Vivaldi's Winter, 2nd Movement (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlQPWhdvCjE)
Mouret's Rondeau (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlCxBwQZ46k)
Flower Duet (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Qx2lMaMsl8)

Unfortunately for you, this selection only has classical pieces. I hope you find music that you both like :)

First off, congratulations!! My recommendation would be for the Buongiorno Principessa theme by Nicola Piovani, linked below. Good luck with all of your arrangements!
