In the 3.5 edition DMG, on page 128 is a table called One Hundred Traits. Number 26 is nonexistent, and number 100 is "No sense of humor (See #26)"
Is this some joke I don't get?

Hey, that's pretty funny! Hadn't ever heard of that one! How about the sidebar in the chapter about Variants, entitled "Variant: No Sidebars?" heh, that one was good, too.

Isn't it obvious? You've got trait 100, but not trait 26.

On a slightly more serious note, it's also historical humor. Entry 100 was not in the first printing, and neither was entry 26. After they received lots of comments on it, they added entry 100 only.

But what is trait 26? I always have assumed that it is "enjoy screwing up otherwise cool roleplaying ideas."

Another joke: Polymorph!

Trait 26 doesn't exist. Together trait 100 and 26 are a joke. The joke is that people who don't understand it's a joke, like you, don't have a sense of humor, hence why it redirects you to trait 26.

It's a small in joke put in by the devs, like why Deja Vu is listed twice in the psionic powers.

Heh, that brings fond memories of a confused member of my group flipping between the pages and mumbling something about him going crazy.

good times.

I never thought I'd run into someone who didn't get that one.

For every joke there exists someone who doesn't get it, no matter what the joke.

There's one towards the beginning of "D" powers and one toward the end.

The joke is so bad that I didn't realise it was meant to be a joke at all.
I understand it, but it's just terrible. xP

Where's the "Optional Variant: No Sidebars"?

That'd be the DMG, page 171.

Just to point out, I did sort of get the joke, and like 90% of people I think I have an above-average sense of humor. I was just enquiring about the historical basis for it. I like the Deja Vu one.

That's chapter 6 right? The chapter of variant rules?
