Ignorance appears as a small, pale boy in rags with a dull, brutal look to him. His eyes are wide and mindless and filled with horrible, idiot malice.

Ignorance is the personification of ignorance and the suffering, misery and brutality that arises from it. He is all that could be known but won't. He is the doom of all that think.

Ignorance neither speaks nor understands any language.

Combat
One never knows when Ignorance will strike but when he does those in his path are rarely the same and much worse because of it as he reduces them to mindless beasts such as himself.

Eternal Suffering (Ex): If one slays Ignorance he returns to life 24 hours later as long as there remains suffering and pain because of lack of knowledge.

Mindless (Ex): Ignorance has immunity to mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects) and automatically fails Intelligence checks.

Repeated Mistakes (Su): Each time one aims an attack at Ignorance and misses they gain a cumulative -1 penalty to their attack against him. This penalty lasts for 24 hours.

Touch of Stupidity (Su): Anyone whom Ignorance touches must succeed on a DC 24 will save or take 1d6 Intelligence and 1d6 Wisdom drain. This is a mind-affecting effect. The save DC is Wisdom based, gaining a bonus equal to Ignorance's negative modifier.

Unlearning (Su): Foes within 60 feet of Ignorance take a -10 penalty to all skill checks and forget 1 spell of each level they know or have prepared. In addition all Divination spells cease to function in this area and if cast are lost for the day. As well, no XP may be gained in this range. Those that go beyond this area must succeed on a DC 24 will save or forget all that happened while in range, though regain spells and lose skill penalties. This is a mind-affecting effect. The save DC is Wisdom based, gaining a bonus equal to Ignorance's negative modifier.

Want appears as a little girl twisted with hunger and a face hideously aged with a cunning, hungry look. Her bare head is covered by a greasy cloth to hide her fallen hair. She has fingers far too long, bent and crooked as if having been broken many times.

Want is the personification of need and longing in all its forms. She is all appetite and yearning without being able to quench any of it.

Combat
Want rarely fights, instead attempting to take all she can or curse her opponents with great longing.

Appetite (Ex): Want can eat and drink without stopping, able to consume enormous amounts of sustenance without ever satisfying her craving.

Cling (Ex): When Want latches onto something it is nearly impossible to make her let go. An opposed strength check must be made to which she gains a +20 bonus. This bonus also applies to grapple checks.

Eternal Suffering (Ex): If Want dies from any cause she returns to life 24 hours later as long as there remains beings in desperate need.

Desperate (Ex): Once per day Want can work herself into a state of wild desperation. She gains a +4 bonus to Strength, a +4 bonus to Constitution, and a +2 morale bonus on Will saves. Her base speed also doubles. This state lasts for a minute.

Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, a Want must hit a creature of any size with a touch attack. She can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. If she wins the grapple check she may Cling.

Improved Uncanny Dodge (Ex): As the rogue ability, level equal to Want's HD.

Through the Cracks (Ex): Want can slip through even the smallest spaces without a reduction in her speed or requiring an escape artist check.

Want's Curse (Su): Want can put a desperate curse on anyone she touches if they fail a DC 20 will save, chosen from those below. Want may curse a single being multiple times, but never the same curse. A Remove Curse spell can remove one curse at a time though an opposed caster level check must be made with Want's level equal to her HD. The save DC is Intelligence-based.

Loneliness: A curse of loneliness causes the victim to become intensely disliked and universally shunned by all. All creatures that come within 30 feet of the cursed are considered to be Unfriendly towards the victim, even her closest friends. They will avoid him at all costs and if forced to remain in close proximity will try to run him off. Diplomacy check DC's are doubled and last only for as long as the cursed being is present. A future meeting returns them to Unfriendly.

Poverty: A curse of poverty causes all items of 1 gold piece or more to become lost in some fashion or tear and ruin. All those that attempt to use sleight of hand to pick their pockets or disarm them gain a +4 bonus as well.

Sickness: A curse of sickness causes the victim to take 1d10 points of Constitution damage. As well, they take a -4 penalty to all saves against disease.

Starvation: A curse of starvation causes all food her victim tries to eat to be rotten and foul within, even if it appears fresh without. If her victim attempts to eat it anyway they become nauseated and regurgitate it.

Skills: Want can always choose to take 10 on Climb checks, even if rushed or threatened.

cool.
just two tiny nitpicks
1: in Ignorance's stat block under skills, this is written
Skills: Want can always choose to take 10 on Climb checks, even if rushed or threatened. emphasis mine
two: are you sure the CR are right? all it takes are one ego whip from beyond 60 ft. to take him down. perhaps you should give them immunity to ability damage/drain?

He's immune to mind-affecting effects. I.e. ego whip. Want could be taken down... but the aspect to them is that you can beat them up, grind them into dust... and back they come again, and this time they may be ticked.

You know, this reminds me. One day I would like to see Sum of All Men homebrewed.*obscure referance to the Runelords books*

Nice work with these two. Are they referance to something else - that I do not recognize - or did you work them up from scratch?

They are inspired by those of the same name within A Christmas Carol.

Probably need to specify that the Poverty curse takes effect slowly over a period of time. Otherwise, against PCs it totally blows the others out of the water. GMs don't like using rust monsters, or having BBEGs cast Mage's Disjunction because it annoys the players and this is even a bit worse if it takes effect.

Awesome reference there, good sir!

And only one complaint: you didn't use the image from the greatest version of A Christmas Carol--the 1951 version starring Alastair Sim.

Nice work, as usual!

Very nice. The only problem is that the players would hate them. They destroy your treasure, and you don't get XP from them.

where does it say they give no xp? Also want and Ignorance don't seem to be immune to each others affects . They should be seeing as they are a pair, want does not affect ignorance and Ignorance does not affect want.

Unlearning on ignorence prevents any XP gain within 60ft.

Eh... losing the XPs from one encounter at your CR isn't that bad and if it happens the second time around you deserve it. "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me." sorta seems appropriate here.

Just don't go making them the "boss" monsters of an adventures and you should be totally fine on that side of things...

OTOH, getting all you items ganked with one touch attack and one failed save sucks so hard as to resemble the vacuum of outer-space.

The things you miss only knowing the muppet version of A Christmas Carol. A little to vicious to get too much pity from me, but I've always wondered why these suffering and dead folk want to hurt everyone else so much, when they could use their new otherworldly powers to prevent the same from happeneing to others. Nice work as always Vorpal Tribble.

Very nice work, although Want missing Touch and Flatfooted AC but that's an easy fix. Shouldn't damage on her Attack be listed as "special"?
