VOTING TIME!

Here's how to vote:
1.) Read all of the prestige classes on the list below. You can't know if something is the best until you have read all the entries. You do not need to have entered a class to vote.
2.) I set up a dummy user on the board named VOTE (all caps). Send a private message to VOTE and list your choices for the following categories:
• Best Warrior Class (mechanics and flavor)
• Best Spellcaster Class (mechanics and flavor)
• Best Skill-user Class (mechanics and flavor)
• Best Introductory/Flavor Text
• Best Articulation of the Screen Name Theme
• Funniest Class
• Most Likely to be Used in an Actual Campaign
3.) Vote only ONCE in each category. You may not vote for yourself in more than two categories.

Do psionics fall under "best spellcaster class"?

Gorbash Kazdar

How long do we have to vote?

Zherog
2004-08-02, 09:17 AM
In fairness to everybody else, The Z-Man and Z's Babes probably shouldn't be on the list, as I didn't follow the rules for those classes. Specifically, I didn't use my full screen name in either class.

If Rich wants 'em there, well, it's his board. However, should they be disqualified my feelings wouldn't be hurt. I fact, I wrote The Zherogley with that in mind.

Good luck to everybody!

1.) Sure, psionics can be spellcasting.

2.) Until next Saturday. Sunday, I'll count the votes and announce.

3.) You can treat them as one entry in my mind; just vote for "Zherog's classes".

ummm my class name isn't Name. It's Disciple of The Chris. But if you want to call it Name that works too =)

I voted just now: it was so hard to decide best spellcaster because so many good ones.

Didn't see my first one on the list:

How do you get it to show the name instead of the link?

Remove the spaces from the tags:

[ url=http://www.giantitp.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=features;action=display;num=10902573 81 ]Pupil of Abelard[ /url ]

Should give you:

I have to second Starbuck's comments about picking a spellcasting class. Had the hardest time with that one. Funniest was easiest, since I just picked the one that actually made me laugh out loud when I read it ;)

I also had trouble with "Most Likely to be Used in an Actual Campaign" - in the end I just picked the one I, specifically, was most likely to use.

Hard choices all around; a lot of great PrCs, a number of which I'd like permission to use (I ask because I may have to tweak them to fit into some of my campaigns; I give permission to do this with mine, as long as you note where the original comes from). Good luck to everyone!

Anybody is free to use my classes - if you can actually fit them into your campaign, then more power to you. ;D Really, anything I post anybody else is welcome to use.

There are some really neat Prestige classes here, and I've already used one of them in my campaign!

Good luck everyone!

Ditto to Zherog's post. Anyone is free to use my PrC. This is my expressed written consent. :)

I also had trouble with "Most Likely to be Used in an Actual Campaign" - in the end I just picked the one I, specifically, was most likely to use. For me, I picked the one that I thought players would actually like to play and the DM would actually allow. There were some really good PrCs out there that (ironically enough) I don't think would be used often.

Any ideas on the next contest? I had more fun doing this one that I thought I would.

I found Most Likely To Be Used a hard choice too but I pick one that I liked. (which means I would use it in a campaign.
I also hereby give my consent to anyone who wants to use my class. And the more people use it, the happier I will be.

I had hard time deciding the best warrior class ... since like 80% were spellcasters or psionics. I hope the ones I chose will win. :P

All who wish to use my prestige class may do so. There's no point for me to prevent that. Hey, I want fame! 8) Though you can rename the class to Shield Dancer or such.

I've already got a character working to be a shield master of Fsi-Dib.
It was the best class overall I think.

YOu know i'm playing in a warcraft campaign a Blood Elf who wants to become a Demon hunter but he could also become a Shield Master (he likes using shields as weapons)
So the one Most likely to be use was hard, but if Dm allows it I'd use it.

When this is all wrapped up, I think I'll do a spell contest next. But like this one, there will be a "twist" to keep all the entries themed in some way.

I'll also be creating a new Contest forum, since this contest overwhelmed the Features board. But I didn't want to retype all those links yet...

15 votes so far, and no clear leader in any category.

Keep those votes coming—the Democracy Demon commands it!!

I have to say there are a lot of awesome classes! I'm really having a hard time with most of the categories, because there seems to be at least two really cool classes I like that fit each category. It's made harder becauise in contests like this, I try to avoid voting for myself. Maybe I end up short changing myself that way, but I find that to be the most fair.

Also, I've heard from a bunch of people (IM's, PM's, etc) thanking me for the help I offered. Honestly, I love dissecting prestige classes, and it was my pleasure to read all these. I'm actually humbled by the number of people who have thanked me. There are a lot of creative and talented people who post here.

Several of these classes could make their way into one or more of my campaigns.

Best of luck to everybody!

I know, I had the hardest time deciding who to vote for. So many amazing classes, so few categories.

This contest was actually so much fun...I can't wait for the next one. I think I really need to start playing D&D now. =)

WHAT?!

I'm speechless. This was my ... well, first prestige class ever. (Not counting the one that can be found somewhere in WotC boards... it was unfinished and stupid)

In the contests similar to this that I've joined in the past, I've never voted for myself. In fact, I've always liked the "no voting for yourself" rules imposed by some contest runners. I'm not sure why...

Mee too. Voting for my own class feels too much like cheating. Besides, one can never be objective about one's own work.

Yeah, I don't think I got the chance to thank you for your feedback formally, Zherog. So, thank you, formally, for your feedback. And everyone else who offered feedback, even if I was rather arrogant and shut you down. I do that sometimes, and I end up regretting it.

So, thank you and sorry, and may the best PrC's win. :)

You're welcome, and no need to apologize. It's good to take pride in your work, and sometimes my suggestions come from a misunderstanding on my part.

Besides, like I said, I like reviewing PrC's for some sadistic reason. ;)

Giant: Will we get to see the vote count or just the winner?

Thanks

The Giant
2004-08-06, 02:51 PM
I'll probably give the number of votes given for the winner, so you can see if it was a landslide or a close finish, but I don't want to show all the votes—especially since there will be plenty of classes that get 1 odd vote in a category and nothing else.
