Is there, in any of the thousand books out there, any sorcerer/wizard spell that grants the caster the pounce ability?
It would be great for the gish I'm trying to do, combined with true strike, power attack and leap attack.
Thanks in advance.

It's called Lion's Charge. I'm not sure which book it's in.

Lion's Charge from the Spell Compendium, but it's Druid and Ranger only and lasts only 1 round. As far as I know there is no other spell that does that short of Polymorph cheese with the right choice of monster, so you'd be stuck with such kludges as duplicating it with Limited Wish and finding ways to quicken it so you can actually charge before the duration runs out.

If you can spare a single level for Barbarian, however, the Spiritual Totem alternate class feature from Complete Champion gives you pounce permanently if you choose the lion totem.

There's also Psionic Lion';s Charge (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/psionicLionsCharge.htm), which may be useful depending on the context.

is it just me, or do I smell a home brew coming along?

Just you. because it would be obvious.
