Does anybody know any D&D-centric websites that run any games for people from the UK? Some friends and I would like to participate in game that isn't based on play-by-post (takes a long time), but we don't know where to go for something like that.

What age/area are you in? If you're anywhere near a university and are student age or older, I'd recommend finding out if they have a gaming society that accepts non-students. I know the Southampton one does, I couldn't speak for any others.

We live around the London area. We're looking more for a place online that would run chat-based games for European or English people, since we have too much schoolwork to spend it on travel time. D&D is time-consuming enough as it is.

A lot of folk use some sort of instant messanger to play over, find one you like that works, get some sort of dice roller involved (invisible castle would do I'm sure) and go for it.
Easy enough.

You can find a fair number of groups in the UK here:

If you're in London, I can recommend this group:

I liked the people there, and I know at least one other member of this forum goes there.

Kingston Games group is a good place, other than that and other suggestions there is a contact site at orcs nest (http://www.orcsnest.com/clubs.htm).

If you already have a full group and just need a way to play without driving somewhere, there are several free chat programs specifically designed for this. The one I have experience with, which I think is pretty good, is OpenRPG (http://www.rpgobjects.com/index.php?c=orpg&m=getorpg). I'm sure other posters will recommend other such programs shortly.
