((OOC: The ''Of What Lies In Shadows'' campaign is officially in session. That's the campaign name, in case you didn't have one written on your sheets.))

Harasin; the city is known for lots of things. It's many great noble houses, each boasting of producing the best warriors, wizards, artisans, spies, diplomats, traders, alchemists. It's comparatively vast army, in which one in every two citizens is a part of, giving it a legendary fighting force of 150, 000 people. It's great warriors -- being a Redguard city, everyone there knows how to fight, and you can see why. Children fight in the streets daily, and they improve as fighters from childhood.

It is also known, however, for being a place of action, intrigue, and adventure. Harasin is a major trading port along the Great Wiandi Road, really a set of highways connecting all the cities of the Wiandi desert to one another, giving the city great wealth.

For all of you, it has been that latter that has proven interesting and relevant, although the former was observable. Through various channels, each of you has been called by a noble in the city, attracted by offers of wealth and participation in great tasks if you were willing to fight and commit yourselves to a little danger.

Through some sleuthing, you were able to find out the noble's name -- word of mouth has the citizens positively abuzz about what Nobleman and High Lieutenant Gadric Nilcas could be up to. Everyone who you query about the nature of the mystery noble has confirmed the name 'Gadric' when you give the description. When you asked for direction, the expressions were manyfold; some awe, some humored, some even fearful. But all said the same thing, ''Just go to the tallest tower in the city."

Each of you approached the same temple-like structure at the foot of a large tower of blue-black crystal. Each of you mentioned your intent to the heavily armed guards there bearing the Nilcas crest -- a shield with a glowing gem in the center. You were all directed to go straight through the temple and make your way to the tower, and announce your intentions once more, and then step through the portal.

This has led all of you to a room, high above the city, at the top of the tower, where a man in fine red silken robes welcomed you and told you to take a seat, conjuring chairs out of thin air when he did. The last of you having arrived, he seems willing to finally divulge what has been of keen interest to you who have come.

He speaks in an amused voice, as if he is on the edge of mirthful laughter. "I was expecting more of you, but looking at you, I believe you will do. I have a task for you all -- many, actually, and you will be of great service to both this great City and this great House. I presume you all willing to accept, but if this is not the case, now is the time to mention it and take your leave. Otherwise, I would have your names and a statement to your professions -- as to why you believe you are in any way qualified for this."

He pauses, and awaits your reactions.

((OOC: Post a short description of your character so that the other players know who they are in the room with, and begin.))

*Marillion just listen at what the guy says. At the good moment, Marillion stand up and begin to talk very fast. He was nervous about something...

''Count me in. In the past i travel in the world and now i'm back to Harasin and i'm willing to follow you. I'm at your service... and i'm happy to begin a new chapter in my career of wizard.''

He finishes to talk and sit down on the chair waiting for the others.

A young man that stood about average height for the men of this region looked around. He wore simple earth colored clothing that was cut in the traditional style of the region. His black hair and beard were both trimmed short. He stood with very discernible posture and presence. His military background could easily be assumed simply from his posture.

Khriss looked around in awe at the surroundings and at the others in the room. As the chairs were conjured for the group he became even more interested. He always had a strong interest in magic.

"My lord I am Khriss Frost. I am knowledgeable in both the ways of battle as well as the arcane. I am a former soldier that brings much to the table. I am at your service, for a price."

He said the last with a disarming smile.

Yann le Renard, Halfling

A Halfling of slender build, with flamboyant clothing that is a riot of colours, lustrous black hair and sparkling green eyes enters the chamber; followed closely by an orange striped cat.

Yann takes his seat as it is conjoured out of thin air, Maurice jumping on his lap.

Interesting. Lord Nilcas certainly knows how to put on an impressive show. He thinks to himself

Waiting for the others to finish introducing themselves, Yann then stands up to his full 3'2", dislodging the cat, and introduces himself.

"My Lord, I am Yann le Renard. Specialist in trap dismantling, item retrieval, and part-time entertainer. I can produce minor illusions to aid others or myself during a job, as need be. My skills are at your disposal, for the right price." He says smiling.

As he resumes his seat, he adds "Oh and this is Maurice, troublemaker extraordinaire."

The cat seems to be glaring at Yann after that last comment.

Dalsa Reventi

The last through the portal and last seated, the chocolate brown human in the dune colored robes smiles slightly, his voice gravely but still sweet as he says slowly; "Dalsa Reventi, druid, Master of sand, fire, and friend to air."
He motions to the small sandspout beside him that towers over everyone in the room, twitching and rushes forward a little, making jerky motions back and forth, scouring the marble a little as it moans in a voice like that of the desert winds "Galtiutuma."
"We are here because you couldn't find anyone better, I can only asume."

Gadric nods to each of you in turn, musing this over for a minute. He waves absentmindedly over his shoulder, and a chair appears beneath him. He takes a seat.

"You are here, although others are working for the House now too. Perhaps in time I will choose that you are my best chosen servants; but in this time, you have competition, and thus I hope you do your best to ensure your employment survival."

He looks to each of you meaningfully in turn. "I have a boon to bestow on each of you, now knowing your talents. But I need you to accomplish something for me first."

He pauses for a moment. "In Harasin, here, there is a mercant district. The City Guard here is very, very diligant. We do not allow our cities to develop into slums, do not permit gang violence, and do not permit thieves. The Guard here, however, has been hearing rumors of something more disturbing. Yesterday, my guard captain reports that a shop was torn up, and that the shopkeeper refuses to talk. We suspect organized crime of some sort. I know just what to do to get the witness to talk; I want you to deliver a package."

Gadric waves his hand once more, and a package appears on the floor. It is a square parcel, with multiple magic runes traced across it.

"I personally inscribed those magical runes of protection. For your own safety and protection, do not attempt to open the package. Deliver it to one Taewin Narros in the Merchant district. I leave it to you to locate him, it shouldn't be hard, as many of the merchants are aware of what has happened and are concerned. Gossip should be abound. Report to me any and all happenings after this task is finished, and the reward will be great by compare to the work you must do."

At that, he waves his hand, and all your chairs disappear at once, except his own. "Hurry, please."

Yann stares intently when Gadric conjures the package. He is almost about to get up and examine the strange item when Glist puts it away in his bag of holding.

Well, maybe I can have a better look when we deliver it to that Narros fellow.
He thinks to himself.

In reply to Glist, he says

"Not exactly, but I am sure we can ask directions once we are back on the streets."

So, I am to assume that you go searching through the city? If so, make either a Search check (to just observe your surroundings and try to make a guess) or a Gather Information check. You can take ten, which will require alf an hour, or take twenty, which will take two hours. Taking twenty will guarantee that you find him.

The name brings nothing up for you. As far as you're concerned, historically, he's inconsequential. And you can't just have knowledge local, it has to be keyed into a particular city and becomes knowledge (name of city here).

Your search check is unsuccessful in finding anything that looks close in the merchant district, you think it would be more effeciet to ask around rather than looking.

You see many fascinating things in your bird-eye form, but nothing like what you imagine you are trying to spot. You're not entirely sure what you would be looking for or at. The closest you come is that you see a shop that has a rather official looking city guard captain in front of it with a few more guardsmen loitering around. Many people go to the captain, who appears to be standing in front of a shop, but he tells all of them off.

[roll0] Knowledge (Local about the city merchant... I am born in the city so...)

Brom
2009-01-15, 08:49 AM
((OOC: Ah, duly noted.))

Your knowledge of local people and events tells you that Taewin Narros is a salesman of exotic and rare magical, alchemical, and special gear. He is known for selling things that are perfect in one intended instance and probably useless in every other. For example; he has been selling rings that enable water breathing and the ability to render oneself invisible to the senses of aquatic creatures for years now.

You think that with some minor asking around, you can find him. Assuming you do such:

Taewin Narros' shop, the ''What You Need Emporium" is indeed damaged. A gaping hole visible only from the street is present in the side-alley wall, and a serious looking dark skinned Redguard captain is standing watch with several others. He is armed heavily; a bastard sword and a heavy spiked shield, along with a composite longbow, a breastplate, a morning star on his hip, and a pair of throwing axes, all of which is masterwork. In other words; just as well armed as all the guards of the city.

When you approach, the guard captain sees where you are looking at gets your attention.

"Lord Gadric has forbade entrance into this store. Entrance is a direct violation of the law; stepping through the doorway makes you a legitimate target. You have been warned, citizen."

In bird form, you suddenly see your companions by the guard captain.

Yann le Renard, Halfling

Yann is happy to follow Marillion's, who seems to know his way around the city. After a pleasant walk the group arrives at the ''What You Need Emporium", which is indeed damaged. The shop is guarded by a serious looking dark skinned Redguard captain and several soldiers, all heavily armed.

Listening to the captain's warning Yann pauses, before turning to face the man with his most charming smile

"Good day to you too Captain. We are looking for the owner of this shop, a man by the name of Taewin Narros, I believe. Would you know of his whereabouts?"

Diplomacy to make the captain one degree more friendly to me[roll0]

Brom
2009-01-21, 12:00 AM
Make another check to make the DM more friendly to you, or you risk him becoming hostile. He seems to be taking offense to the shade of green you are using.

The Guard captain looks at those of you who have requested admission in confusion.

"I've already granted you admission. What more do you want? Just follow."

He leads you into the shop.

The inside of the shop is like something out of a nightmare. Black faces like something out of the darkest of possible dreams are depicted; the wood of the store walls looks warped, twisted as if burnt but without the burn. The shelves look like they have wilted as if coated in acid, but no substance appears to have touched them. There are no smear marks or drip tracks. You note that the stairs in the corner leading up have been similarily melted and have become unusable. The air smells strongly of a sickly sweet scent, and the air seems to be swimming in front of you as if in hot desert heat.

In the corner, you see a man wrapped in a blanket on a chair. He's folded his arms around his legs, which are propped on the chair, and he's curled into a ball. He's unmoving and seems numb. You notice that he's bare chested, and on his right shoulder, an emerald mark pulsates slightly. The flesh around it seems burnt, as if it was emplaced by a brand, but the mark gleams and glistens like a crystal facet.

The guard captain turns. "That's Taewin. You may speak to him, although you'll probably have no luck."

Taewin is short for a human; 4'9, and wearing nothing over the waist, with no shoes, either. His hair is bald, although his scalp is burned in places, suggesting he had hair that was burned off. He seems like he's becoming old but aging well, although this is nearly unnoticable under the lines fear has ingrained in his expression.

He makes no response when you enter.

Lukmar
2009-01-21, 02:43 AM
Yann enters the shop and is taken aback by the scale and nature of the devastation. Brandobaris help us! This is not the work of some petty thief... I can see why they want to keep things under wraps. He thinks to himself as he looks around.

Seeing the unresponsive man on the chair, Yann motions to Glist.

"You have the package ready?"

Unsure if a knowledge aracana check would give any hints of the forces that did this? Here's the roll in any case: [roll0]

Also, does Maurice notice anything unusual with his spirit sight?

Spirit Sight: Cats can perceive astral and ethereal objects such as dematerialized ghosts or the astral form of a traveler on that plane. Cats are wary of such beings and often seek to avoid them.

Brom
2009-01-21, 01:43 PM
Yann actually gave it to you, but I'll assume you went and gave it to Taewin.

Taewin doesn't respond at first. He doesn't even look up at you to see the package, so you end up putting it in his lap to see if he will respond if he sees it. This works; Taewin looks at the package. He mutters something in a language you don't understand; it sounds gutteral, throaty;

"Amaath raht khehet dijumet."

The wards on the package fade away, like ink sinking into paper until it is no longer visible on the page. He opens the box, and pulls out the contents inside. You see him pull out a piece of paper.

He unfolds it; you see his lips murmuring the words he's reading on the page. He looks up at you after finishing, then looks back down at the paper.

"No. I can't. They'll kill me. I gave it to them. I gave it to them. They didn't take it. I gave it. If I'd made them take it, they would have killed me. I'd be dead. DEAD!"

He screams the last word, and then breaks into tearless sobs for a few seconds.

Maurice doesn't see anything, although her fur is on edge, and her eyes are making darting motions. There is nothing calm about her; her claws tense and flex, and she occasionally growls warningly.

No magic you know of can produce this. You think that an Evocation that deals acid damage...might do something....like this, but usually, such an evocation would just flatten the walls. It's almost like something just made the walls wilt like some sort of flower. You've never heard of or seen anything quite like it.

For spellcraft to work, you need to see something cast.

Arcana provides no useful information; the best thing you an think of is that an acid-energy spell struck this place, but even that doesn't make sense. It's almost necromantic, but at the same time, that doesn't fit either. You think you're dealing with nonarcane magic.

Taewin looks up at you with dead eyes. "The paper. Nothing special about it. It's just a message from Gadric telling me to testify. I won't. I can't. I can't help him. I won't. Nothing ot examine. And the crystal is already gone. But Gadric knows about the crystal already."

Lukmar
2009-01-22, 07:41 PM
Yann observes carefully as the curious scene unfolds before them. Seeing Taewin break into sobs, he tries to comfort the man and make a sense of what they have just heard.

“There there, no need to be distressed” he says patting the merchant on the back. “You have nothing to fear now. Take a couple of deep breaths, that’s it. Help us understand so that we may help you: are those Lord Gadric is asking you to testify against the ones you gave the crystal to? Having given them the crystal instead of making them take it, technically there was no crime, is that why you wont testify?”

Taewin looks up with dead eyes again.

"Gadric doesn't care if I gave it to them or if they take it. He just wants names. Faces. Identity. He doesn't know who they are. They've struck so many times. They've made us live in the shadow of fear. But not for years. We thought they would finally leave us alone. Now Gadric wants to fight."

He screams the last words.

"BUT NO! HE'S INSANE! THIS. Can't. Be.Fought!"

He reverts to sobs once more. His nerves seem frayed; you've never seen anyone in quite such a state. You've only heard of people like this from sanitarium's and war zones where soldiers have survived horrific attacks by dragons and other magical malaise.

Khriss was torn between emotions. On one habd the magic that had obviously affected this house and man fascinated him. On the other hand what had happened to this poor soul saddened him. He looked about nearly at a loss for words.

Khriss looked to the captain,

"Sir how long ago did this happen and if I may ask who was it that discovered him in this state?"

Brom
2009-01-26, 02:24 PM
The captain purses his lips and thinks.

"Late last night, a citizen ran to me while I was on patrol in the other part of the city and reported bright green light and screaming coming out of the shop. This in itself was wrong, as there were supposed to be six well known guard stations between me and the route the woman took to get to me and four more around the area if she'd headed in another direction. We have a LOT of guards. I went quickly, and checked the guard stations while I did. No one there. When I got there, the lights were gone, but the screaming was still going on. That's when I found him like this, although I didn't try to do anything in particular. When I realized who's shop this was, I notified my liege, and he ordered me to personally command six of my best to guard the shop day in and day out."

The guard captain pauses and uncertainty chips his voice.

"The men are nervous. I personally got on the cases of all the soldiers who weren't at their guard station, and even under the magical impact of Discern Lies spells, they say that they were at their stations and that nothing seemed to be wrong. Furthermore, the woman who reported it is missing, and her bedroom looks like the shop now; all melted. I'm afraid that if something did go wrong, I wouldn't know it."

He pauses, then sighs in frustration.

Listening attentively to the captain's description of last night's events, Yann thinks to himeslf: Great: even more loose ends. This matter is becoming more intriguing by the minute.

"Captain, I can certainly understand your frustration. This is begging to shape up as a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.” He pauses, thoughtful.

“Just for the record, and in the off-chance that we come across her, could you please describe the woman?”

Brom
2009-01-26, 05:39 PM
The captain nodded.

"Sure. She was Valun blooded; white skinned. Had the accent, though, like she'd been born here. Curly red hair, short, she was wearing a night gown and undergarments when she'd came to get me though, said she'd seen the lights out her window and came hastily. Her house, unlike the store, is open to be looked into, we're trying to hide in plain sight and not alert the community. A merchant who was a wizard, we can put a spin on. Magical experiment gone awry. Alene, though, she was just a citizen. We are supposed to protect our citizens. The last thing we want is for the common folk to know that the guard doesn't have a damned clue what's going on."

Yann pays careful attention to the captain’s description, taking note of an additional fact. So Taewin is a wizard? Hmmm, interesting. I wonder if…

The Halfling approaches Taewin once more, waiting for the man’s sobs to subside somewhat before lifting his face so as to stare again into the merchant’s dead eyes. My, his mind is hanging on naught but a thread. Brandobaris forgive me, but I need to give it one more shot...

“Taewin. Look at me. Look at me! I know not who ‘they’ are, but one thing I can assure you: you shall never be rid of them as long as you cower in fear. They have come in the past, they are back now and they will continue to be a plague unless they are stopped. Lord Nilcas is determined to safeguard the city and its people against further incursions from this entity, no matter what you decide to do.”

Yann pauses, making sure he still has the undivided attention from those dead eyes and the unhinged mind behind them.

“Taewin, if you are a practicer of the arcane arts, then you know that nothing is what it seems at first glance: magic can confound the senses, bewilder the mind and rob you of your wits. Who assures you that this aura of despair and defeatism is not deliberate, a cloak to ensure that nobody ever takes the fight to ‘them’?

Not giving the merchant a chance to answer, Yann continues, though now with a softer tone.

“They will strike again, and you know it. Maybe next time they will target a woman. Maybe they will target a child. But no matter, for Lord Nilcas will not be dissuaded from his purpose. Now, you can help him by identifying them or stand in silence, ensuring that there will be more victims. The fate of those souls is in your hands. What will you do?”

Ok, here go the rolls again. I am making quite a few assumptions there, so I am including Bluff just in case:

Taewin looks up. His eyes are cold and he still seems to be roiling in despair, but the dead, absent look is there no longer. He looks up and around, and mutters a few words of arcane power. You see his hair straighten, the grit falls away, the sweat disappear, and generally his experience looks cleaner and much healthier.

He gets up and goes across the room, and you see another burst of arcane power as he dispels some wards around his desk. From out of that, he pulls out a wand.

When he speaks, he is quiet, forlorn, and grim.

"Take me to Gadric Nilcas now. If he wishes to hear, he can hear; this old wizard's life isn't worth that of the countless who could die from this. I simply pray he has an action to take."

Making an effort not to gape and reveal his surprise at Taewin’s sudden transformation, Yann clears his throat and addresses the others.

“Ahem. Gentlemen, let us not keep Lord Nilcas waiting, shall we?”

As he is about to turn and leave the shop, he suddenly thinks to himself:
Hang on. If 'they' are out there, now would be a chance to strike, before Taewin spills the beans. Best be on guard.

Yann will not voice his suspicions per se, though he alerts the others to keep an eye out as they are back on the streets.

Yann thanks the captain for all his assistance before moving out with the others. Once they are back on the streets, he takes position in front of Taewin, keeping an eye out for any possible threat or trouble.

As soon as they are out of the shop, Maurice visibly relaxes. He gives a bored yawn in the direction of the sand elemental, turns his back on it and struts down the street alongside Yann.

Yann is on alert for possible dangers while they are en route, so please do spot & listen checks as appropriate (bonus +6)

As you venture, Taewin stiffens and brandishes the wand he pulled out of the desk. Suddenly, he is in a duelists stance; balanced on the balls of his feet, head held high and scanning in front of him, and with his arm partially outstretched, leveling the wand.

"They are here. To silence me. They have known."

There is a strange, grim certitude in his voice.

Despite what you feel to be very thorough searching and listening, Lukmar, sensitive to everything from the allycat 10 yards away licking it's fur in the shadows to the sound of the wind hitting the trash cans on the street, you hear and see nothing.

Taewin refuses to be held. He breaths in suddenly, and whirls around.

You still see and hear nothing, Lukmar.

Taewin pulls out some obsidian flakes from his pocket and clenches them in his fist while muttering some arcane words, and they disappear in a puff. Taewin's skin takes on an onyx-like appearance.

In a low whisper, almost a hiss, and undeniably full of some sort of loathing and hate, he gives you all a warning. "Ready your weapons. Any second now. They will be here. I bet before the count of ten."

At that, he begins counting to ten.

Surprised at Taewin’s foreboding confidence and the spell he just cast, Yann stifles a curse. Waving his hands in synchrony while uttering a few words of arcane power, he conjures a protective field of force around himself and Maurice.

Casting Mage armour. Do you want initiative Brom? If we still have time for one more action Yann will attempt to cast another spell. Also, does Maurice spot [roll0] anything with spirit sight?

Brom
2009-02-12, 06:06 PM
You have time for one more action, and everyone else who hasn't yet posted can gain a single pre-battle action, but yea, roll initiative.

In spirit sight, Maurice clearly sees something that frightens her. She begins hissing and backing towards you, Lukmar.

Four figures appear out of thin air. Each wears a heavy, encompassing black cloak, making their faces inscrutable. Each holds a single blade of a metallic texture, although each is emerald in coloration. Each has one hand extended outside of their robe, and you can see black scaled claws with a single emerald burn on the insides of each. Their claws finger and grope the air as if in yearning.

They have appeared, one on each side of you. Their swords are pointed towards you. The one in front of Taewin speaks in a low, hissing voice.

"Giiive him to usss....and no more shalll be harmmmmed."

It's almost an exhalation rather than a spoken statement, but each of you can hear it clearly.

Initiative roll: [roll0] BTW: AC is now 21 (17 touch)

Seeing Maurice back away hissing, Yann realises that their foe are already here. Blast it! Where are they?

Wasting no time, Yann jestures again as he recites a different incantation. Just as the spell comes into effect, four figure materialise all around the group.

Brandobaris be merciful! What are these beings?

OOC: I am waiting for the other guys (mainly Khriss and Gardakan) to post their actions, because what I have in mind is sure to precipitate combat

OOC: Brom, from where we are can we see Lord Nilcas's Tower? If we can, how far away is it? Can you describe the street where we are? Is it deserted, are there people/guards around, etc? Also, can ghost sound be used to produce an intelligible sound such as a message, or is that only ventriloquism?

In an attempt to stall for time, Yann addresses the one creature in front of the group.

"Good... Sir. You put us in a difficult position, for Lord Nilcas also wants this man and charged us with his safety. Tell you what. I'll get in contact with Lord Nilcas, and then the two of you can discuss the matter privately, without the need to involve us. What say you?"

Yann smiles affably, though keeping his body ready to leap in action if needed.

You can see the tower, although it's halfway across the city from where you are. The process of getting to the shop required crossing to the other side of the city. Ghost Sound cannot produce intelligible noises.

The creature hisses in a low exhaling breath. "Thisssss....is unacceptable. Give him to usss....or we will kill you all."

It's getting towards the evening hours, but the street is clear compared to when you came here. You can't even hear anyone -- it's like you're in a ghost town (although you can still hear your party members, etc.)

“Well, I guess you leave us with no alternative then…”

Abruptly dropping the smile and his façade of amiability, Yann draws quick but precise patterns with both hands while reciting an invocation under his breath. As the last syllable rolls off off his tongue, four glowing spheres of light shoot off from his hands into the evening sky. The spheres rise quickly until they are roughly 100 feet above the position of the group, and they begin pulsating with different colours.

Cast dancing lights: the glowing spheres are 100ft vertically above the group, and spread out in a 10ft radius area . Each sphere pulsates with a different colour (red, blue, green, orange in no particular order). My hope is that the effect is visible from a distance, and that it will draw attention.

Taewin is the first to act; he seems like he has been waiting for the creature to say something. "Dying sounds good. You first."

Glad that Taewin took care of one of their assailants, Yann is nonetheless surprised by the efficacy of the attack and he cannot help but think to himself: By Brandobaris! What a wand! I must ask him where you can get one of those around here... Ok concentrate!

Following the wizard's lead, the Halfling recites yet another evocation. As he completes a movement with his hand, three missiles of magical energy dart forth from his fingertips and strike one of the remaining creatures.

Ok, It migth be a little confusing but I will try to be clear, Dom a map migth help a little to situate the various character.

Impressed by Taewin magic, Glist give a rapid look toward the ash before refocusing on the figth. Seeing Yann make the first move Glist follow his lead.

Glist take a step toward the enemy that Yann as target and attack it with two powerful blow from his Hammer.

I assume I only need a 5 foot step to be in range of the enemy Yann target, I make a full attack.
Attack roll : Power attack for 1 [roll0] Damage roll : [roll1]

G = Glist
F = Fell Creature
Y = Yann
T = Taewin
W = Wadledo
X = Gardakan
K = Khriss

I hope I discover a method easier than making a table.

The Fell creature in front of you, Glist, makes several blinding snaps of it's wrist and shifts in it's dark cloak, proving a difficult target indeed. You find none of your attacks strike it directly. It seems, however, temporarily stunned, it's defenses purely instinctive, and it makes no attempt to advance on you.

The Fell Creature facing Khriss charges at him, swinging it's sword as it goes. Khriss has no luck stepping aside from the blow, and you can hear him cry out from the pain of it. The third one rushes straight for Taewin, with no one between him, and attempts to strike him. Although Taewin is not out of the way fast enough, the blade stops at his skin as if it were stone.

Taewin cries out in a rush. "These are not sighted creatures! They see only their prey and see anything directly between them and their prey as gray masses, step aside and strike from behind! Don't stand in their way!"

Khriss, hearing this, steps aside and then point blank releases a magic missile like your own, Yann. The creature seems buffeted but not particularly damaged or in pain. The creature makes no attempts to interfere with his casting.

Marillion murmurs some arcane words, targeting the creature you attacked, Glist. Marillion cries in dismay. "These things are undead of some kind! No mind at all to affect!"

Did Yann’s previous magic missile seem to bother the creature at all? I am posting my actions now, but please put them in the appropriate initiative order. Also, you may want to add letters to that table, so we can call out movement coordiantes

Seeing how Glist’s vicious attacks seem to all fall short of his intended target, Yann decides to cast a spell once again. As he recites the same evocation as before, three more missiles strike the creature facing the dwarf.

Force damage roll [roll0], automatic hit the creature targeted before which Glist is now fighting, or if dead one of the other creatures still standing

Seeing the bolts of magical energy hit the creature in quick succession, Yann grimaces. That’s the last of my offensive spells… time to take the fight with more mundane weapons.

His spell cast, the Halfling takes a 5 foot step, drawing out his quarterstaff and stepping so as to interpose himself between Taewin and the creature facing Khriss.

Brom

Taewin, seeing you all surrounding him, tries to step out of your ranks. (Steps to d6)

"Don't stand between these things and their intended prey! If you truly wish to defend me, let my protective spell take the damage and bring them down one by one, and let me keep firing this wand!"

Taewin holds the wand up and at ready.

Yann, your magic missiles seem to stun the creature, and it does seem to be moving slightly more slowly, although that could just be optimistic perception.

Glist; you're up.
