View Full Version : Stealth & Intrigue, The Adventures of Salmiel

Our heroes, Selash the whisper gnome, Borend the dwarf, Julian Greenbond the grey elf, and Albert Crow, Garret Cross, and Psy Blade the humans, find themselves stuck within the confines of an unknown facility. As they awake, they find themselves shackled to eachother by five feet of chain in a 20'x30' cell.

In the next room, 50'x50', four fully armored men are playing a game at a circular table with about a three foot radius. There is a door in the center of the north wall, directly opposite the cell. Finally, there is a human woman standing five feet beyond the thick steel bars of the cell.

She says, "Welcome, criminals, to Do'Vengr. You have been charged with numerous crimes, and shall be brought to justice very soon." The woman turns away dissapeared into thin air, leaving our heroes alone amongst themselves, completly unarmed save for small weapons hidden in their clothing.

Ooc: Alright, here's to hoping this goes well!
Post your rolls here please.

Selash rubbed his head, groaning.

"Ow. What in the nine hells happened? I haven't done any crimes in this city yet, I'm pretty sure."

OOC: I assume we don't have our gear on us at the moment?

Psy sits up. He looks around. After hearing the lady, he turns his head towards the guards. He concentrates and then appears to focus on them.

Psy activates his Sustenance Power. Then follows up with Read Thoughts turned on the guards. He's hoping to find out what they've been accused of. It has a DC 16 Will save to be immune for this manifestation of the power.

Garret Cross

"What the- by what manner of council?" Garret nearly shouts at the fleeing form of the woman, and then struggles a little against the chains before looking back and forth to the other prisoners. With a sigh he stares at his hand and jiggles the cuff on it. "I knew I should have spent more time with that monk." He mutters forlornly.

Ooc: Your assumption is correct, Heliomance. You have nothing unless you own a small weapon and you make a succesful sleight of hand check versus a DC 18.

Heliomance

Things I own that could conceivably be concealed such:
Two kukri
Two wands
Finger blades (+1 to sleight of hand to pickpocket)
Thieves' tools
Ring of Chameleon Power

I assume they didn't take my shoes off me, they're masterwork tools of move silently, being made of very soft and supple leather.

My sleight of hand bonus: 21

How much of that do I have on me?

Borend

Borend awakes, is surprised to find himself looking like himself and with his gear Captured and in my natural state. Unacceptable. Criminals she said. Well, that's true enough by some definitions, but how'd they know it was me? And who are these other folks? More to see what reaction everyone would have then anything else, Borend stands up and shouts at the guards. Oi! If you're locking us up, at least get us some breakfast. It'll give you a chance to make a last meal joke.

OOC: is this cell under an anti-magic field or will Wildshaping be an option?

Sir Julian Greenbond slowly returns to his senses, shaking the cobwebs out of his head as he wakes up. The grey elf (not human), gives a few quick, hacking coughs, harrumphs, and starts up his feeble protests at the jailer's retreating back.

"I say- There must have been some sort of misunderstanding, yes? If someone would just pop down and have a quick word with the chaps at the embassy, you'll find... Hello?

"Oh... bother."

Taking a moment to gain Psionic Focus, which turns on my Mindsense. Nobody in the room who isn't visible, I presume? Also, I'd like to try and mentally connect to my psicrystal, if it isn't more than 1 mile away, smashed, or in a block of lead. Or... in my pocket.

Albert

Albert shakes his head, slowly at first, but subtly getting faster. "No, no, no, this isn't right." He pulls at the chains binding his hands, somewhat desperate. He felt strangely alone, and a weak voice at the back of his felt like the steel holding him was burning against his skin.

After a somewhat vigorous shake, he stops, calming down. He looks around the cell, trying to find some sort of liquid, hoping the cell had some kind of water source.

If we've been out cold for days then Albert wouldn't have any bound vestiges at the moment. He should still have access to his spell like abilities from Fey Heritage though, unless we're in an antimagic cell.

Would his cloak, veil, amulet and circlet still be in his possession?

With no visible expression on his face, Psy turns his head around to his cellmates.

Fishy:

I want to RP you noticing my character accidentally using Read Thoughts on you. I figure since you're a fellow Psychic you'd notice. And for the record, it was going off as he did so, so Psy got nothing from his cellmates. Doesn't mean you know that though.

One of the guards yells back at Borend "Ah, shut up, scum. It's to late for yer last meal, anyway..." Another guard, obviously of higher rank, glares at the first, whom quiets quickly.

OOC:
As to the nature of the cell, though I believe you should have tried to figure this out yourselves, it is under an anti magic field.

As to possesions, a seperate slight of hand check must be made for each item. The first items DC is 18, the second's 19, the third's 20 and so on.

Shirts, leggings, and shoes where not taken. Everything else (Save for certain items, check above) was confiscated.

My appologies fishy. I fixed it.

Okay, so I have both my wands and both my knives, and my ring, as I can't fail the first five checks.

Thieves' tools, DC 23: [roll0]
Finger blades, DC 24: [roll1]
Gloves of the Balanced Hand, DC 25: [roll2]

I won't bother hiding my lens, it's just a masterwork tool of spot, not vital, and not illegal. They've nicked that.

Selash pats himself down, assuring himself that most of his gear is safely where he stashed it. Standing up, he goes over to the lock and inspects it, attempting to work out how hard it would be to pick. He speaks to the guards. "Nice place you've got here. Very comfy. Shame about the service."

Garret Cross

Garret Cross sighes, and slinks into the darkness of the cell. He didn't have much in the way of getting out of here- his abilities relied on not getting caught in the first place. Then he heard a familiar squeaking... "Peter, old friend." He whispered to the rodent, which had crawl in to find him. "Would you mind taking a look around for me?"

Can my Urban Companion leave the cell and take a look around outside it?

Borend

Hmmph, maybe I'll just eat you, then. Coming to his feat and assuming an odd stance, Borend attempts to Wild Shape into a dire lion, but then finds himself still a dwarf. Well, it figures they'd not be complete idiots. Having nothing better to do, Borend walks towards the gnome near the door. Agreed. Being in prison always makes me hungry and you just can't get good service these days.

Julian looks decidedly ruffled- either at the indignity of his imprisonment, being called 'scum', or the fact that absolutely none of his expanded senses are working. He's certainly not taking his imprisonment as well as the career criminals in the room- though certainly better than Albert is. He moves to the obviously frightened young man, concern on his face.

"I say- are you alright, dear fellow? Chin up, we'll be out of here soon enough, I'm sure of it."

Psy:That would be neat, except we're in an AMF, and Julian doesn't have a single point in Psicraft. I think he'd have to use Sense Motive on you while you're reading minds- which would have to wait until later, anyway.

The guards ignore the prisoners coments and continue playing their game.

Ooc:
The Lock: The lock is of good quality (DC 30). You also notice that the lock has a touch trigger to a nearby trap.

The rodent: It may leave the cell only if it is Tiny or smaller.

The AMF: Erm, that was my fault. I didn't know about psionics-magic transperancy. I'm going to chalk that one up to a falteration in the magic sustaining the field. Sorry about that.

Albert

"Damnit, damnit..." Albert is once again flustered. Usually when he imagined he was standing somewhere else, it happened, "Damnit!" and if such a trick didn't work, then a binding was right out.

Some of the others seemed to be just as confused as him. He shrugs, and tries to ignore the feeling that the chains are digging into his skin... burning. "Yeah... a meal would be nice. Water too." He drags himself next to to the bars and starts scratching against the ground, drawing strnage symbols with his fingers, first inside the cell then outside.

"Are you trying to get out of here?" Garret says, moving up quietly next to Selash. "Allow me to provide a little... distraction." He muttered, turning to Peter. "Would you mind helping me out, old friend?"

Okay, Selash is going to attempt to activate his Ring of Chameleon Power as a free action as soon as he gets out of the cell, primarily as a test to see if that gets him out of the AMF. He can hardly hold himself back as some of the other prisoners sneak out of the cell, but once the last one is out, he bursts through the open cell door with a childlike glee on his face. Once he reaches the point where the other's magic starts working, he points to the "freshest" looking recruit, the one who seems to have less experience. "It's alright, it was an honest mistake, I forgive you"

Albert will use Charm Monster on the newbiest looking guard. He has to make a will save vs DC 17 (19 if they didn't take the Headband, 21 if they didn't take to cloak.) or be charmed.
