I've heard good things about it, but never played it.
Too busy with V:TES. 1 Game with all the cards and decks that entails is enough for me to worry about.

Some of my mates that collect every CCG under the sun might have some and if so, I'll give it a whirl and post here if nobody else who actually has done does so.

I believe you're thinking of the wrong game.

The one that was out at the time of Jyhad/Vampire was Mythos (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mythos_(card_game)).

The one that Sirroelivan posted is this CoC Living card game (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Call_of_Cthulhu_Collectible_Card_Game).

I haven't had a chance to play either unfortunately. Between Magic, MMOs and computer games in general, there's not much left of my entertainment budget for anything new.

Out at the time of Jyhad/Vampire? You make it sound like the game is no longer in production. It is still going, infact the latest set was only just released a month or so ago.

As to this game, I actually think that's the one that I've heard about. I've not heard of a game called Mythos, but it is possible I am confused. Two of my friends collect and play just about every CCG that gets printed, including some which are targetted to children (don't ask me why). So it is possible that they've got some of this one.

I'll see them on Friday for RPG, so I'll inquire about it then.

I believe it's reprinted just recently.

That was V:TES that I was talking about there....

I think the fact that I still call it Jyhad kinda gives the game away about my knowledge of the game.

I lost interest when they changed the name to Vampire The Eternal Struggle, thus making all my old cards unplayable with the new ones (coloured card sleeves weren't carried by my local gaming store back then).

It is still called Jyhad in many places.
JOL (an online deckserver for playing the game in a text-based format) still refers to it as such Jyhad OnLine.

Also, it is refered to as Jyhad on the google newsgroup rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad

the old cards are still equally playable, and many people (myself included) still use them. Just because the game changed names does not make the cards any less playable (the system has remained intact, with only a tightening of the rules rather than wholesale change). Indeed, some of the cards printed in the Jyhad days are still considered power cards. Parity Shift, Voter Captivation, Majesty, Earth Meld, Deflection, Conditioning, Govern the Unaligned, Freak Drive etc.

They even have rules for using cards with mixed backs in tournament play when you don't have sleeves. Funny thing is, the entire print run for 3rd Edition (they new base set) had the backs printed upside down, which means they are clearly identifiable by the other players. but this is for old cards as well as new ones. You don't even have to worry about it if you're not mixing backs, all Jyhad - no problems.

As for social play, who cares. We do it all the time, and I don't know anybody who doesn't. Of course, sleeved decks look better and protect the cards better anyway.

You should give it another go, best CCG IMO.

They don't have the game, but have ordered it. When it will get here, I don't know - but probably won't be too long.
