This is the first PrC I've homebrewed so please let me know what thoughts are.

Story Weaver

Story weavers are those for whom the challenge and goal of adventuring isn't gold or fame, but having the best story to enrapture an audience over a few pints at the inn. Weavers make a point of remembering the tidbits and local gossip and actively work on piecing them together into an entertaining narrative. Although Bards typically gain the most benefit from this prestige class, as the tales they gather throughout their journeys aid them in recalling obscure facts about whatever conundrum they currently face, Story Weavers can be a person of any class or race who likes to tell a good whopper from time to time.
Unlike their closest counterparts, the Loremasters, Story Weavers typically reject attachments to institutions of higher learning. They prefer to get their tales by word of mouth and gossip rather than through intense study of musty tomes of ancient lore. After all, you can't spill your ale all over an oral history.
For work, Story Weavers do just about anything. Many are wandering bards, picking up tales as they travel from place to place. A fair number are barkeeps or other interaction heavy professions. Some are even political leaders using their skills at oratory and spin as well as their extensive knowledge to enrapture local populations into granting them political influence.

Spell Casting: At each odd numbered level, you gain new spells per day and an increase in caster level (and spells known, if applicable) as if you had also gained a level in an arcane spellcasting class to which you previously belonged. You do not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained. If you had more than one arcane spellcasting class before becoming a Story Weaver, you must decide to which class to add each level for the purpose of determining spells per day, caster level, and spells known.

Bardic Music As performance and showmanship is part and parcel of the focus of both the bard and the story weaver, bards continue to advance their bardic music abilities with one drawback. The abilities advance only with regard to performances telling tales (Perform Oratory). Hence, a 4th level bard and 4th level story weaver with sufficient ranks may slip a suggestion into a tale of days long past, but he could not do so if singing a song or playing the banjo.

Bull Artist: As masters of the art of storytelling story weavers also become adept and telling false, as well as true, tales. They also become better at telling them apart when heard from others. As such, starting at first level and at every third level thereafter, story weavers gain +2 competence bonuses to bluff, diplomacy (when telling a story to an NPC) and sense motive checks. The bonus granted at later story weaver levels stacks with those granted at earlier story weaver levels.

Long Ears: Story weavers are particularly adept at picking up the local news and gossip. As a result, starting at second level, and at every third level thereafter, story weavers gain a +2 competence bonus on gather information and listen checks. The bonus to listen checks applies only to checks relating to speech or speech like sounds. For example, a story weaver would get this bonus to hear an approaching party whispering to each other but not to hearing an approaching bear. The bonus granted at later story weaver levels stacks with those granted at earlier story weaver levels.

Story Teller: The more you tell 'em, the better you get. Starting at third, sixth and ninth levels Story Weavers gain at +2 bonus to their perform (oratory) checks. The bonus granted at later story weaver levels stacks with those granted at earlier story weaver levels.

Useful Gossip: At third and eighth levels a Story Weaver gains the ability to separate out the nuggets of truth from the idle chatter. Any one knowledge skill in which the story weaver already posses at least 6 ranks gains an additional +4 bonus. They must posses these ranks before advancing to the level granting Useful Gossip.

Story Recall: Given time and skill story weavers can remember details about items, people, spells, locations or other objects. Starting at 4th level Story Weavers can make a check similar to a Bardic Knowledge check using their Story Weaver level + 1/4 their bonus for the applicable knowledge category (rounding down). Bard Story Weavers are particularly adept at such recall, having set up their memory to do so already. When making a Bardic Knowledge check these tale spinners may add their story weaver level and 1/4 of their bonus to their normal Bardic Knowledge (resulting in the check becoming Bard Level + Story Weaver level + Intelligence Bonus + 1/4 applicable knowledge skill). The Story Weaver must posses at least two ranks in the applicable knowledge to use this skill. This ability also stacks in the same manner with any other abilities noted as functioning like a bardic knowledge check (such as the lore master's Lore ability).

Epic Recall: At seventh level the minds of story weavers become even more capable of remembering the right tale at the right moment. As Story Recall except ½ the applicable knowledge bonus is used in place of 1/4.

Mind Like a Sponge: At tenth level Story Weavers develop a near perfect memory for places and details associated with the stories they tell. As Story Recall and Epic Recall except the a 3/4 knowledge bonus is used in place of 1/4 and ½ respectively.

Really?: In talking to many people of all walks of life Story Weavers also pick up useful bits of practical information. At first, second, fifth, eighth and ninth levels Story Weavers acquire bonuses to particular skills, saving throws and even new feats. What use they make of the information they gather and what that translates into in terms of skills, saving throws, and feats is determined by their Story Weaver level plus their intelligence modifier. Each time a story weaver gains this ability they may choose options from the table below adding up in total value to no greater than their story weaver level plus intelligence modifier. A story weaver may select each of these no more than once (except as otherwise noted) but may 'save up' these points from level to level, piecing together knowledge over a long period of time, to gain understanding of more valuable information. Multiple information costs separated by commas indicate that the knowledge can be selected more than once but at the next indicated cost value.

So, does "Fancy Trick" only work once, like a scroll or potion? Seems like a waste. You probably meant once per day or per week or something like that.

It Seems to me that it works once per particular monster.

So, does "Fancy Trick" only work once, like a scroll or potion? Seems like a waste. You probably meant once per day or per week or something like that.

I meant, once per particular enemy although I can try to make that clearer.

For example:

Fillip the Story weaver and Tom the Rogue are fighting 4 ogres, Enie, Menie, Minie and Moe. He uses his fancy trick to make Enie flatfooted so Tom can sneakattack him. Tom kills Enie. The next round Fillip uses it to make Menie flatfooted. Tom hurts Menie but doesn't kill him and all the ogres run away.

Six months later Tom and Fillip come across Menie, Minie and Moe again. Filip can still use his Fancy trick on Minie and Moe but Menie already fell for it once, remembers it, and isn't going to again.
