Howdy all, I read alot and do not post much but I figured I would get someones opinion on my characters "rough" backstory and future plot development.

I am playing a Half-Vampire (Other half is Human (Illuskan)). He currently is a Wizard (Necromancer) 3/ Master Specialist 7. He is a necromancer because his family is full of Vampires and most of them are wizards, in particular Necromancers.

Recently he killed a dragon and used Animate Dead to raise it as his pet. After attaing his pet he challenged a Sun Elf Illusionist to a spell duel and lost. It was a lethal spell duel but the Elf is againt killing unless nessecary so she decided to spare him. Now, he has fallen in love with her but she will not have anything to do with him (outside of a strange friendship they have formed). Currently he is conflicted with his family heritage and his newfound love.

After talking to my DM, we are working on my "Father" finding out that I have fallen in love with a Sun Elf. He is going to try to have her assassinated by some lesser vampires in his clan and I am supposed to stop them. If that works out my character will be turned by these events and try to destroy his father. My characters party will attack his familys vampire clan and my character will face his father. If we succeded my character will realized that all the things he was taught since childhood are a lie and that his mentor and love the Sun Elf has been trying to teach him better. This quest will replace the retraining quest, and I was thinking of respecing to Enchantment.

Let me know if this sounds tacky or just confusing thx in advance.

even full vampires in the Realms have been known to move in the Good-ish direction: Christie Golden wrote Jander Sunstar short stories which fit this.

I'm not sure if he stays like this in Ravenloft book Vampire Of The Mists.
