Well, the main reason I only went back 1000 posts was that I'm not insane, and don't want my head imploding.

It'd be nice if some posters from olden days could show me where those old races are, and, if the creator's still around, get them reposted. But I'm not insane enough to try to get every race ever posted up by myself.

It'll be the same with classes, feats, monsters and items. Except that feats, monsters, and items probably won't go back as far, because I probably won't be able to just do a search for the subject on those and get that many. Which means having to go through the threads manually. Which means that the last five or six pages will be sufficient.

Ideally, we'll be inclusive from the point when this thread is begun, with a good number of older stuff mixed in. This is about the best we're going to get, without actually going through every single thread in this forum.

That's nearly three thousand threads and almost seventy thousand posts, incidentally. I do not know if that includes those lost, older threads. Even with help, I don't think that's feasible. Who do you think I am? Elminster? Mordenkainen? Chuck Norris?!

I'll do my best, though. It'd be a lot easier with help, mind.

I wont help look through posts for old races, as my computer is very slow and even looking at about 500 posts back could take me hours.

But I will PM you a link to any thread with a race I have created, as there will be more in the future. In that way I hope to make your job easier.

But on another note: Yay! My children are up there (Pseudo-Illithids and Mushroomfolk)!

Added in the Ashwalkers and the Final Fantasy Online races.

I edited the first post to reflect the fact that this is for general content, and not just races. I still need help searching through the boards. Come on, any volunteers? Don't all speak up at once, now.

I'm going to start on classes today.

And hey, even if you don't want to go searching through, if you've come up with feats, spells, magic items, that sort of thing? Post a link here. It'll make things easier, really.

So far, the .txt file I'm using for compilation has eighteen prestige classes and four classes, including Rouge. That brings me up to February fifth, of this year. This means I've gone through... not quite two weeks of posts. And leaves me another six and a half to go. Hoo boy. Of course, part of this is that Chipmunkboy77 had a similar idea back in early February, so I'm also getting a lot of older stuff to add to the list, which is mostly a good thing. Again, if you know about an older class/feat/spell/monster that you'd like included on the list, just dig up the link.

I've actually gotten a few monsters, feats, and items on this search, too, largely thanks to the aforementioned thread by Chipmunkboy.

I have discovered that, for some reason, there are a maximum of 100 pages of posts in this forum. Currently, the cutoff date is late June, 2005. It would appear my post of the Slide spell has, er, slid off the edge.

Where do posts go, when they fall off the end of the forum? Are they simply deleted? How awful! I realize probably 90% of stuff that gets said is pointless or transitory or worthless, but there are the diamonds in the rough, stuff that ought to be saved. I hope there is some mechanism available (besides bumping ancient threads) to prevent them from being expunged forever!

I don't have anything new to offer at the moment (though I encourage people to check out the Campaign Building forum for some new deities by yours truly), but I wanted to post up to express my appreciation to JackMann for doing all the hard work that goes into making this list possible. He doesn't get nearly enough support, and I for one find this an extremely useful tool. So, JackMann, you're awesome!

Righto. I'll wait a couple of days before adding it, though.

The reason for this is that I've got races listed by level adjustment. Level adjustment is subject to change, whereas other grouping criteria generally aren't (prestige classes don't generally become base classes, items generally have a specific type). This way, I can be sure it'll stay where I have it on the list once it's on there.

For those wondering why, it's a combination of business, other projects, and the fact that I'm on dial-up. This forum can take forever to load sometimes. I was going to update it last time I was at my parents, with access to their broadband, but I left the blasted master copy on my home PC.

It will be updated eventually. It's just taking me a bit of time.

For now, VT, if you could make a note on creatures that have been created in the past few weeks, I'd be very grateful. I just need a link and a brief description. Place any sarcastic or apologetic notes in parentheses. I'll format them for the final inclusion in the list.

Don't get me wrong, I'm given to understand it's a good system, a laudible system, a system that is excellently balanced and should be praised by all. Nonetheless, I don't understand a word of it, and it might be helpful to have someone who actually knows what all that nonsense means describe it.

Anything that's been posted in the forums is, by assumption, being shared with the general public. I don't think it's at all rude to link to it. In fact, I suspect most authors are pleased to have attention paid to their efforts.

You might want to hold off a little bit, since it's still a work in progress, but there are about a zillion monsters, classes, feats, spells, and just general variant rules in Shiny's Project CUTE (http://www.giantitp.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=gaming;action=display;num=1150920490 ) thread.

The first post has a list (Shiny's updating it regularly) of all the contributions.

They're *meant* to all go together in a campaign world. But I could imagine someone wanting to use one or two of them independently.

To be honest, I was trying to get caught up with this. I kind of got a little obsessed. I kept going through the old posts on the boards, looking for new content, but I couldn't keep up. I did my best, but I couldn't get on broadband all that often, and this forum does load slowly on dial-up. I was spending several hours at a go trying to collate the data, and I still kept falling behind. I last tried a couple of days ago, and finally gave up, since I wasn't even into July. Today, I came to give you guys an explanation and an apology, and found that Roland St. Jude and Gorbash had done the job already. Many thanks to them. I know first-hand how big the job can get.

In retrospect, I should have limited myself to the content posted to this thread. That would have been workable, even on dial-up. Instead, I tried to get everything on the boards posted, and ended up getting too overwhelmed to get any of it down.

I'd like to apologize to everyone who helped me and who I let down.
