Cast
http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq289/person_1123/cast1-1.png

By the way, for those who are confused by this, the party is as follows:
Sneaky Omadillo: Gnomish Thief/Illusionist
Serahk Destor: Human Thief turned Cleric of Fire
Ronak Ironham: Dwarf Cleric of Thor
Quedder: Elf Mage
Alphagon: Elf Druid

This is all being done in a homebrewed mash of first and second edition D&D. Just to confuse you (more).

Enjoy!

I have no idea what just happened.

I think it involves a lightning rod. I think.

I posted something about this comic in your other thread, Person.

Person1123

Thanks,

The reason that the plot holes are so big is because this will be comic 100-and-some, and the javelin is the "lightning bolt of thor". It explodes in lightning, when it hits. and this really did happen in a D&D adventure (other than the fourth wall repairman)

Also, the other guy is another party member who nearly dies from one of the hobgoblin's swords going flying.

Eh...wha...huh?!

Why would you post the 100+ comic before the first?! That makes no sense whatsover, doubly so!

By the way, the reason to post comic number 100-and-some first is so that people are in suspense and want to read from the beginning.

Plus, I was bored.

Pfft, guys, isn't it obvious, he stuck a javerling in hime while hiding behind a carper, the monster broke the fourth wall and a man came to fix it.

And the cast for chapter 1:

Just to create MORE suspense...

The necromancer is a master of illusion?

Person1123
2009-01-19, 07:02 AM
No, just one of the funniest lines he ever said was "I'm a powerful necromancer." He then failed his check and fell over.

Also, Comic #1 is up, so now I'm beginning the actual story.

Your signature banner is breaking the forum signature rules by a margin wider than I think I've ever witnessed.

Try shrinking it down more to a size comparable to that of my signature banners.

"it really happened in a D&D adventure!"

... I guess we had to be there. Wait, we weren't. You might want to tell the story assuming this. For example, it's hilarious to you if your party's thief announces he's a powerful necromancer. To us, who have no idea what's actually on that character sheet, we don't know if the author is telling us that the guy is really a necromancer or not. It's confusing without the background.

So you need the magic of... exposition! To tell this story you need to figure out a way to tell the readers the background that will make the jokes funny, without being so obvious that you're telling us the background. Good luck!

Try looking up "faceplant", I think that's the intended title.

Also, Person1123, you may have reduced the size of the content, but you exported the page, so the image is still massive.

No, the intended title is "FLACEPANT", not Faceplant. And you'll see why.

Person1123, change my character (ronak ironham) please, more facial hair and not so red please. Laso, he needs more color, and a bigger hammer. lastly, please show his magical tobaggon or however it is spelled and have characters say what they do in a white speech bubble.

Isn't the skull guy copying an oots line but instead of treasure, it's swords?

Threeshades

Okay im slowly starting to see through what happened. In the first page the frog thig jumps over the raft, taking the necromancer with it in its mouth. And the blonde guy goes after it. (you should hae made a panel where you can actually see the necromancer get swallowed)

In the second page the necromancer nails the frogs insides while the archer shoots it from the outside, while that mage is still following the frog.
The necromancer breaks free and gets back on board. Then the mage still chases the frog and something goes sploosh next to the raft? That still doesnt make sense.

Let's see the comics that your comic steals lines from.

8-bit theater - "I like swords"
Goblins - "I declare my dodge on you"

Are you posting this for constructive criticism, or only compliments? Just checking, since I know some people like how they do things and aren't looking for suggestions. However, if you are, I have some suggestions/reactions/constructive criticism below.

Comic #1: If you are going for the OotS look, you need consistent lines.
The guy's cloak has much thicker lines than the rest of his body.

Comic #2: Some of the lines separating the panels are sloppy. Not sure if that's on purpose or not. The water lines are also rather unrealistic looking. I'm not sure what program you're using, but I recommend Inkscape; it'll be a lot easier to iron out little details like that.

Comic #3: Second panel, the guy's speech does not fit into his speech bubble. I don't really get the punchline...

I think this has potential, but some work on the artwork and making it amusing to those of us who weren't at the gaming session you say this is based off would help a lot.

Person1123
2009-01-31, 06:19 AM
Thanks. The punchline of #3 is really only funny if you have Goblins and 8-Bit Theatre. Those lines are copied from there.

Oh, and I am using Inkscape. The lines are sloppy because OOTS makes them sloppy, and I'm trying to get that look.

samm81

I kl\now the references, and I didn't think it was very funny. Just random.

Wreckingrocc

OotS doesn't make them sloppy... It's very clean and fresh looking... Yours looks just... Choppy. It is slightly jarring to look at all the contrast... OotS seems to blend it nicely.

The things in OotS that are meant to look sloppy are really not sloppy at all. For example, in the first hundred or so comics, the borders were very squiggly and sloppy looking. But they looked like they were intended to be that way. With things like this, it looks like you merely overlooked the stroke width differences, and forgot to iron out the curves on the cloak.

Person1123
2009-01-31, 05:29 PM
I meant just the borders between panels, but it is sort of sloppy, I guess.

EDIT: I changed the thread so that everything but the cast and most recent comic are links.

EDIT 2: #5 is up, complete with a shiny new....

It's probably on it's way Cheese, the mind of a comic artist flits hither and thither. Which, incidentally, is the reason for buffer comics.

No, no, no, it's not just that I'm impatient. I personally know the person who writes this webcomic and am rather annoyed with him for going two weeks in a row without updating for no good reason.

Ah. Well if you know them in person, then how about giving them a swift smack upside the head and telling them to get working?

And also, why did you choose to write your username as a series of numbers, not letters?

3 8 5 5 19 5
2009-02-22, 09:03 AM
1) I have tried, but it didn't work. I thought this might help. 2) I used numbers for variety, especially since it's amusing when people don't understand and think my username is a series of random numbers.

By the way, there is no new comic due to annoying Catattackishness on the part of Catattack.

Ronak, his character is (according to him) completely wrong and he wants to completely redo it, but he wants to be their in person when I do it.

BTW, I still resent that smack upside the head, Cheese!

New update, despite Catattack problems (i.e. him being way too particular about Ronak). This is a Nonsequitor, or one-panel filler comic from another adventure.

Yes, this really happened.

I believe you mean "non sequitur", Latin for "does not follow".
