No, it really isn't. Sadly.

Ha, that's amazing! I mean, yes, it's a weird idea, but I'd watch it. I like the thought of people thinking very hard about chess tactics while also avoiding being hit in the head.

I'm agreeing with Phaedra on this matter, a sport that stresses both physical and mental capabilities.
(In the boxing round, knockthem punchdrunk then kick their ass at chess)

Oh, I've heard of this before. I still think it would be cooler if the boxing was worked into the chess game. For example, in order to take a piece, you have to beat your opponent in a boxing match.

@Sneak: I've actually seen something like that, at a Ren fair I went to when I was a kid.
It was sooooo epic.

I am not going to curse and swear,
manners are good for me and the bears.
No really, I would pay through the nose to see that.

I think it's fantastic! Aside from the fact that I'm not a fan of boxing in general, because of the loss of brain cells. Perhaps combining wrestling or Tae Kwan Do and chess would be a better.

There are much sillier sports out there. Just do a search for "Extreme Ironing."

I see we have moved on from Chess Arm Wrestling and gone one better now.

Oh how times have changed. And still we insist on associating violence with chess.

Oh well. *uppercut*

If it makes you feel better, about two hours later I got screamed at by a man wearing nothing but mud and shorts.
I was six.
It was very disturbing.

According to Wikipedia, RZA is a fan.

Although this might come close to scratching the weirdness of chess boxing:

Well, I now have a request for a birthday present from my family.

The show is going to be near my home the day before my birthday.

I still think the woodchucking competitions (As broadcast on Eurosport) are weirder.

That's crazy and I love it. The world needs more stuff like this.
