, yet celia seems, well, decidedly medium. Thoughts, opinions, perhaps an obvious explanation anyone?

Goblins are small sized as well, but they look medium too. It's an artistic decision methinks.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but this was commented on in the strip. In some comic Roy refers to Celia as his "Inexplicably medium-sized girlfriend"

Maybe she's an advanced Sylph.

The comic you are referring to is 617 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0617.html)

As for the size, it is just a artistic choice because it would make interactions more believable.

You have just discovered that while our writer pays attention to D&D rules, he is far from ruled by them.

Don't you know any better than to comment on a girl's weight? :smallannoyed:

Maybe she's a 1st edition sylph.

In my day, sylphs were medium-sized. :smalltongue:

Indeed, some people have no consideration! *sniffs*

Maybe she's a 1st edition sylph.

I don't know much about 1E, but I don't think they had sorcerers, and she's one. :smalltongue:

And Celia, after all, was first encountered in a dungeon full of critters which had never been updated to 3.x. . . .

If you really MUST have a mechanical explanation...

Permanency Enlarge Person.

Well, maybe not Enlarge Person, but there's surely an equivalent spell for other race types.

Or Sylphs are simply that size in OotS-land. Unless you're implying that someone Enlarged every single goblin too...

A wizard did it!

You are very brave, I wouldn't be talking about Celia's size problem, she looks like the angry smitey lightning deathy type.

Sylphs, through 1st and 2nd edition, were medium, human sized. They were considered to be a 'race' of one of the four cardinal elements. Countering them were, as such:

Salamander - Fire
Undine - Water
Pec-...something vaguely gnome-like that began with a P - Earth

This in itself actually sprang from an old philosophical or alchemical theory. The concept changed with 3rd edition, so that only Salamanders survived the process, everyone else being replaced by Arrow Hawks, Xorn, and Tojandas. However, Mongoose Publishing stuck to the system in their Slayer's Guide to Elementals, and updated the four elemental races for 3rd edition. It is assumed that Rich is doing the same thing, and is using the more mature Sylphs.

Roy likes big Sylphs and he cannot lie,
You other fighters can't deny
That when an outsider walks in with a small category
And a winged thing in your backstory
You get Charmed
Wanna take a feat that's tough
Cuz you notice her size was buffed...

R. A. Salvatore's Homeland refers to it as a pech.

Peck is an undiplomatic term for a nelwyn from Willow.

What? No way! Next thing you'll be telling us is that goblins are also small.

But in all seriousness, Celia is small, or at least her brain is the size of a brain meant for a small creature, maybe even diminutive or tiny.

She's inexperienced and ocassionally foolish, but I wouldn't rate her stupid.

I didn't so much notice Celia's size as much as here creature type. Maybe I'm off my rocker, but I thought sylphs were fey, not outsiders. Those are two mighty different creature types.

Don't know what they were in 2nd ed, but in 3rd (MM2) they were made Outsiders with the Air subtype.

Size doesn't matter, it's the magic they make.
