There was once a ring of vampiric regeneration that allowed you to steal 50% of the damage you did from your opponent and heal that much. That is crazy powerful. I made this spell with a similar (but hopefully not so uber) theme. It's something of an amalgam of Magic Weapon, Greater Magic Weapon, and Vampiric Touch. It does far less leaching per hit than Vampiric Touch but it has the potential to do more over time, which is why I made it a level higher than Vampiric Touch.

Vampiric Weapon
Transmutation
Level: Sor/Wiz 4
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Target: Melee Weapon
Duration: 1 min./level
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless, object)
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless, object)
Vampiric weapon gives a weapon the vampiric regeneration property of 1 per 4 caster levels (maximum +5). Any hit made with the weapon will grant the wielder a number of temporary hit points equal to the damage dealt or the vampiric regeneration level, whichever is lower. However, you can’t gain more than the subject’s current hit points +10, which is enough to kill the subject. The temporary hit points disappear 1 hour later. You can’t cast this spell on a natural weapon, such as an unarmed strike. A monk’s unarmed strike is considered a weapon, and thus it can be enhanced by this spell.
