I've heard theres some formula/table to convert a casting cost to GP for if your paying some bloke to cast an XP cost spell for you. I've never been able to find such a thing... Has anyone in the playground found one?

Alternatively, does anyone have any sort of house rule examples for converting an XP cost to a GP cost for rent-a-caster use?

I thought it was 25, but I could be wrong.

third paragraph.

"If the spell has an XP cost, add 5 gp per XP lost."

Now we know! And knowing is half the battle!

Good to know.

I avoided wizards because I didn't like the idea of spending XP to produce magic items and scrolls for the party, but only to gain the same XP at the end of the day.

If you don't like spending XP to craft either, I suggest adjusting the market price of magic items by +10%. This increase would equate to +2.5 gp per XP that the creator would have lost. Alternatively, you might spend more XP to craft an item- which would reduce the costs and time it would take to make it. For every XP used in creation, you would subtract 2.5 gp from the (now adjusted) magic item's market price, to a maximum reduction of one quarter the magic item's market price.

I think someone tweaked this before and claimed that magic item creation is well worth the xp cost. He pointed out that you gain xp faster when you're a level behind. So really you're able to afford more magic items to be perpetually 1 level behind (or etc.), and he said the power boost from the items was well worth it.

Pretty much. A lot of people seem to forget that if you're a level below the CR of an encounter, you get MORE XP for it than a character the same level would (and that's more objectively AND proportionately).
