Atogs are diminutive humanoids with a taste for magic. While they sustain themselves on meat and roots, they are capable of digesting the energies of magical items, which grants them a temporary boost of power. Atogs have purple, leathery skin and bulging eyes, and are capable of sensing the presence of magic by smell alone. While most Atogs are craven savages, some have achieved a degree of culture and intelligence, even becoming adventurers.

Crushing Jaws (Ex)
An Atog’s bite attack deals double damage against items and objects.

Eat Magic (Su)
Whenever an Atog successfully destroys a magic item with its bite attack, it gains an enhancement bonus to Str equal to one-quarter the item’s caster level, rounded up to the nearest even number, and a number of temporary hp equal to the item’s caster level. Both the bonus and temporary hp last for ten minutes per caster level of the item.

Smell Magic (Su)
Whenever a magic item is brought within 60 ft. of an Atog, it may attempt a DC 20 Wis check to determine its presence, though it cannot pinpoint its exact location. An Atog gains a racial bonus on such checks and on Wisdom checks made to track creatures depending on the strongest aura strength of a magical item on the target. If the aura is faint, the bonus is +4, if it is moderate, the bonus is +6, and if it is strong, the bonus is +8.

looks intresting.

One possible problem: Feather Token Anchor, CL 12th; Craft Wondrous Item, major creation; Price 50 gp (anchor).
+3 str and 12 temp hp for 2 hours for the cost of 50 gold?

That's gonna be trick. How could something like a Chronotog or a Psychatog be represented D&D-wise? I'll think on it.

Atogs are GREAT, and I wondered when they would get around to D&D.

Question: Would it be possible to gain a bonus to a stat based on what stat the spell most emulates? I understand that magic breaks down into a simple energy, but it would be interesting to see an Atog mage gobble down his headband of intellect (or whatever) for a boost to his magic.

Sidenote: these remind me of the little black things with no eyes, and giant mouths from the The Maxx cartoon / comic. Consequently, I found an image of them...

Chronotog... You can probably make is slow itself, andand the turn afterwards it gains bonus hit points and strength, perhaps?

Psychatog... I dunno... Maybe ability damage to it's mental stats while beefing up it's strength and giving it bonus hitpoints as well...

Heehee, the Izz. They were great!!! Funny little floppy-armed monsters from the Maxx's savannah dreamworld.
Looked like whatever you dressed them as, leading to the immortal line:

"I'd better cover you with boxes so people don't wonder why there are old ladies clipped to dumpsters by their teeth." 8)

Source of 'Atog' creatures pls?

Magic the Gathering collectible card game. The original Atog was a weenie red creature for whom you could sacrifice your artifacts to give him a big powerup for a single turn.
