I WANT ONE!!!

My mom wouldn't let me. She said I didn't look out for them and that we didn't even have anywhere to put them. And then later she put up a fence around the house and insisted that now (that we have somewhere to put them), she wanted one to stay inside the house. When I gave in to a small, yappy dog, eventually she said they were too expensive.

"We need to get a pure-bred dog," she said.

"Get any dog! It's still a dog!" I said.

"Ugh, no..."

He looks like my dog. Mine is about 10 months old, also a Shepherd (Collie) Cross, and she is also adorable. Her name is Molly and she's my jogging buddy.

This is an older picture. But she STILL hasn't grown into those ears.

LURVES my doggie!

Those dogs are so cute. Why does your mother only want a purebred dog, Haruki? Mongrels are normally healthier then pedigrees.

It's funny you should mention that, Afroakuma. The dog was herding the cats earlier.

Hehehe, I wonder whether we can get Wolfbane to herd Reinholdt.

I has a CWAZY doggy! Looks a lot like Tempest's avatar! Half Pomeranian Half Terrier. Never give your dog a regular bone, My dog got hold of one and started eating it; it was not pleasant for me or the dog.

A joke about dogs.

Jane: My dog keeps chasing people on bikes.
Jess: Well you know how to stop him then.
Jane: How?
Jess: Take away his bikes.

Train it to fight. It shall honour you well on the field of battle, should you be incapacitated.

That is just adorable. She reminds me of those desert foxes with the huge ears. Perhaps she's an elven dog?

I wish I could have a jogging buddy. My fascist apartment management would never allow it.

Those dogs are so cute. Why does your mother only want a purebred dog, Haruki? Mongrels are normally healthier then pedigrees.

One advantage of purebreeds is that they have a standardized size. Knowing how big a puppy will get is important for some dog owners. If you get a mutt puppy at the pound, your tiny puppy could grow up to be a large dog. Additionally, their behavior usually, but not always, corresponds with the breed standard.

Huh. That's not... quite how I pictured Fax looking. Not sure how I pictured him, mind you, but that wasn't it.
Also, I hate you all. You're making me miss my dog, a miniature schnauzer... named Cuddles. It's difficult to be a hardass when your dog's named Cuddles.

Also has numerous problems with inbreeding.

My preferred method for picking out a dog is to look at its proportions and get to know the little hairball. Then again, I can handle a huge mastodon of a dog and/or a tiny little dustmop doggie, so...
Yet even so, getting to know it before you acquire it is crucial to getting a good dog. You can tell roughly how a dog's personality is going to turn out from how the pup acts.

I can reiterate this, with my experiences with guinea pigs. While the pure-breed pigs of the sort which stand a chance of being admired by 'experts' passed away after lives on the short end of their expectancy, our mongrel pig of many colours seems possessed by an unholy longevity and vitality.

... The dog is cute too.

grats on the dog, he is awesome, and hopefully won't try to eat your drywall/siding.

purebreeds usually make lousy pets.
mutts, so long as you have some idea of what mix it is, are often healthier, and figuring on its size is relatively simple.

i have 2 dogs, a female black lab/retriever mix, she's 10 and going strong, and a long hair Chihuahua, somewhere around 5 years old (he was a stray *shruggs*).

*looks at the lump that is the lab laying on the floor nearby* and words can't describe what they have given me.

Dogs rock.
I have 2 golden retrivers. Feanor, who is around 3 1/2, and Thorin who turns 1 tomorrow.

They went to the beach today, and though Feanor is scared of the water (his name does mean Spirit of Fire afterall), Thorin loves it and swims like a fish... lots of fun watching him bodysurf!

Oh, and both my boys are purebred. It's a crock o' poo to say they make lousy pets. These guys are awesome. A purebred dog can be just a good pet as a mongrel, infact, I'd have it no other way.

I've had 4 dogs in my life.
First dog: Mutley, he was a Heinz 57 varieties dog, he was also like a brother to me.
Second dog (belonged to my grandad): Bambi, very small, went blind with old age. She was 17 when she died.
Third dog (belongs to a different grandad): Rex, another mongrel, very playful.
Fourth dog: My current dog is Sky, my Siberian Huskey and she's absolutely lovely. Very affectionate too.

Fax is almost as cute as his puppy.

Sam, then Maggie, then Ralph. All Rhodesian Ridgebacks.
