I really like grafts in 3.X, but they were all over the place. they were either really cheap or really expensive, then those new rules came out with all those messed up limits and penalties. After surfing around today i found out 4E's libris mortis came out, and i was wondering how it looked. It would be nice if they had some guidelines or standards like the custom magic item prices in 3.X. i realize it would be illegal to copy and paste the system, but is it worth reading in the bookstore and memorizing or whatever?

...Well, there is "Vecna's Brain," a lich brain graft...
Don't have Open Grave myself, though...

It's primarily an NPC thing. You get a power or two, usually at-will, and one or two miscellaneous other things (usually including resist x necrotic and vulnerable x radiant, as befits someone with undead bits).

There are a couple of suggested penalties for PC use in a sidebar, explicitly intended to make the player go holy crap I grafted a zombie to my ARM what was I THINKING and how do I get it off!?

Pretty cool, pretty minor. Nice way to customize a monster without templates.
