so I'm designing games as a hobby, and I need a name for some little artifact (althouth it is not unique, there are many in the game).
Basically, the artifact is a representation of one's personality in some concrete form. E.g. a kind, pacifist met have a heart, a raving lunatic might have tangle of yarn... and the main character, who is a wizard, has a crystal.
What should I call these? I'm thinking something kind of arcane sounding, but not too weird to pronounce.

You may want to ask for this to be moved to Homebrew, but I'm not sure since I don't go there often.
As for the name, how about Soul Gazer(Gaze as in looks at)?

well the topic isn't really about the game so much as a silyl name, so I thought it would belong here.
Soul gazer is good, but the way I'm writing the story, I don't think I want the character to have a hint as to what it represents for a long time. Perhaps that could be its real name, but people can refer to it with some sort of nickname.

How about, "The window of the soul"
Or "The true soul"

You could call it a 'Personal Arcana'
that hints that it's something to do with the owner, without being too specific as to the exact function.

Why not comine the ideas you have - personality and artifact : personifact or persifact....
....okay, maybe too silly!
Or even something simple like 'essence'?

Name it Antonio.
Making it sentient is optional.
Token seems to be the most apt word.

How about "quintessence", or "id vessel"

You could always go with the classic "widget" or "thingy".
Ok, how about "metot". It's got "me" in it and it's a totem or sorts.

When I read the description, "glyph" was the first thing I thought of

The first word to pop into my head is "essence," but I don't think that meets your criteria of "creative."
What was it called in "The Compass" where people had animals that reflected their personality?

Daemons.
But I was thinking of calling them "Eyes". As In "Eyes are the window to the soul".

Could try something like 'Soulwindow', or 'Soulmirror'.

First, according to my newspaper, you should have used the colour blue in your post - it helps get the creative juices going, apparently.
Second, anima or spiritus could be appropriate.

hey these are all great, hard to figure out which one to use actually...
So far I'm thinking either
Aspect foci- sounds cool, a bit arcane, and a good hint without being a huge hint. I'm liking this.
Glyph- for whatever reason it just sounds very fitting
Totem- a name for a concrete representation.
Anima- arcane/sounds like bringing something unliving (personality) to life
I think I'm sticking with aspect foci at the moment, as it's actually fitting with parts of the storyline (which unfortunately I can't reveal :()
Oh and... I just KNOW antonio is a reference to something... what is it?
