Now i'm pretty sure someone has posted this but I haven't been able to find one.

Anyways, What is that Monster in the Darkness? Well we can try and guess what it is. Rich says that he used a monster from one of the MM's so we could guess.

I only have MM1 and MM2 so I don't know how many others there are. But if some of you are going to comb through looking for possible candidates, here are some characteristics that we "know" the Monster in the Darkness has.

1) The Monster is medium sized.
2) The Monster has HUGH Damage Reduction
3) The Monster isn't a picky eater
4) It can cause earthquakes by stomping it's feet
5) It has alot of strength

On another note, here is some characteristics that we don't know for certain but could be used if we want:

1) It's not fully aware of all of it's power
2) It was found in the forest but the trappers said they've never seen one of those in that environment.
3) It's suppose to be horribly ugly
4) It seems to have either a good or neutral alignment

Is there anything I missed or posted incorrectly? But I'll keep looking in my MM's but haven't found anything to mach all of those discriptions.

A half farspawn, half gem dragon, half earth elemental, Tarrasque under a permanent shrink object spell.

You have no idea...

And I know the definite answer: The MitD is...

...exactly what the Giant wants it to be.

It cannot have a good alignment because it shows a wish to kill the order of the stick on more than one occasion and this is not the action of a good creture
but I'm willing to exept it may be neutral

I'm pretty sure that whatever it is it must have pretty low intelligence, jugging from the way he's completely oblivious to anything anyone else says ("Gate? What Gate?" "So are we having stew?" "Does Xykons brothers know he can do that?".) It might have moderate charisma, as it seems it can be intimidating when it wants to be (STOP! (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0475.html).)

There's this nifty thing in the forums you can do, called search. It's in the little menu bar strip above the lists of posts or threads. Got an arrow next to it.

Monster in the Darkness is commonly abbreviated MitD, and a search on that provided some really good summary threads on theories.

The magical google search.

Edit: It's also in the MM2.

2) The Monster has HUGH Damage Reduction

Well then, it's a good thing Mr. Grant and Mr. Jackman took up acting.

Sorry, I couldn't resist...
