Porifyras are vile accidents, abominations born from a tainted love. It is said that their genesis came about when a wizard attempted to save the life of his daughter, who had been afflicted with a strange disease, which caused her unbearable agony, but would not let her die. It is thought that he had unintentionally brought back from a planar journey. To the wizard’s horror, the planar disease caused small demiplanes to ripple through his daughter’s body, displacing her flesh is the most gruesome manner imaginable, and driving her to madness. The disease was potent, and there was no magic that could cure it, though the wizard hired the greatest priests and healers of the land to tend to her. Turning to the most desperate of measures, the wizard created a countervirus, basing it on a lock of his daughter’s hair he had stored away when she was but an infant. He thought that the countervirus would override the previous disease, twisting his daughter back to how she was meant to be. However, the countervirus was by no means a stable thing. Rather than overriding his daughter’s disease, it combined with it. This new disease soon spread to the wizard, slowly breaking down his mind and body. To his horror, he found his countervirus had worked to well–his body was being twisted into the form of his daughter as she was now, wracked with disease, rather than she ought to be. Even when he became a perfect copy of her, their metamorphosis did not stop–the hybrid disease, which the wizard has dubbed the replicant virus, continued shaping them to some unknown plan. In time, they finally, painfully died–and from their bodies, the replicant virus shaped its ultimate work: the Porifyra. Porifyras, being perfect copies of the diseased daughter, all resemble young girls in their teens superficially, but their inhumanity is clear. They are covered in gaping, bloody pores, and their faces are twisted in a pain-wracked snarl. Porifyras have no wants or motives of their own–rather, they are puppets of the replicant virus, driven instinctively to spread it.

Consumption (Ex)
If a Porifyra begins its turn grappling a creature, it may, with a successful grapple check, absorb the creature into one of its extradimensional cavities, assuming there is one capable of holding the creature. The Porifyra’s smallest cavities can, in general, hold only creatures of Dimunitve size or smaller. Its medium sized cavities can typically hold creatures of Small size or smaller. Its largest cavities can hold creatures of Medium size or smaller.

A creature trapped in a cavity does not risk suffocation, as the Porifyra’s alien cardiovascular system keeps them constantly filled with air. However, each round they begin trapped in a cavity, they must save or be affected by the Porifyra’s replicant virus. In addition, they must make a DC 16 Fortitude save or be nauseated for the round. As a full-round action, a creature trapped in a cavity may attempt either a DC 16 Str check or a DC 16 Escape Artist check to escape the cavity, end in the Porifyra’s space. All saves are Con based.

Replicant Virus (Su)
A creature damaged by a Porifyra’s slam attack, or that begins its round in one of the Porifyra’s cavities, risks contracting the replicant virus. The DC of the disease is 18, and its incubation period is three days. Being a supernatural disease, a creature afflicted with the replicant virus must make three, rather than two, saves to recover from it. The replicant virus acts on both mind and body, dealing 1 point of Con damage and 1d3 points of Cha damage. If a creature is reduced to 0 Cha by the replicant virus, it must make a DC 18 Fortitude save. If it dies to this, or from the Con damage, the replicant virus consumes its corpse, creating another Porifyra over a period of 1d3 weeks. Both saves are Con based.

Absorb Weapon (Ex)
Whenever a Porifyra is struck with a melee weapon, the wielder of that weapon must make a DC 16 Reflex save, or have the weapon become lodged in one of the Porifyra’s cavities. As long as there is a cavity capable of holding the weapon, the weapon is sucked into the cavity, causing no additional harm to the Porifyra. Only manufactured weapons can be absorbed this way. The save is Con based.

Extradimensional Cavities (Su)
A Porifyra’s body is covered in exactly twenty five gaping pores spread out evenly, each a few inches wide. Each pore is actually the opening of an extradimensional body cavity, like an organic bag of holding, within the Porifyra. A Porifyra may place or retrieve an item from one of these cavities as a move action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

Not all cavities are of the same size. Fifteen are relatively small. They are only one cubic foot in volume, and can be used to store only two pounds. Five are of moderate size–five cubic feet in volume, and capable of holding fifty pounds. A further five are the largest of all–eight cubic feet in volume, and capable of storing two hundred pounds. Thus, a Porifyra’s cavities have a total of 80 cubic feet of volume, and can store a total of 1280 lbs.

If another extradimensional space–such as a portable hole or bag of holding–is placed in one of the Porifyra’s cavities, the cavity collapses in on itself, being permanently destroyed. Anything that was contained in the cavity is bloodily ejected at the Porifyra’s feet, save the other extradimensional space, which is destroyed. The destruction of the cavity forces the Porifyra to make a DC 18 Fortitude save or take one point of Con damage.

Disturbing (as usual). Scary (as usual). Nifty (as usual).

and there was now magic that could cure it,

Yup, now there was magic to cure her... but it didn't?

One misplaced "w", and everything goes wrong.

Gahhhhhhh..... I have to say, when it comes to just plain disturbing, you got it down pat.

Extradimensional Cavities and subsequent weapon absorbtion is a very creative touch.

*bows to you with a slightly green tinged face*

However, couple of off numbers. Will save should be +5, and HP should be 45. Otherwise all is well, if you can use that term in the same thread as this.

Hmmm... if the cavity is permanently destroyed, shouldn't it be Con drain instead of damage? Damage implies that it will heal and get the cavity back.

The damage isn't caused because of the cavity being destroyed--it's lost because the cavity being destroyed leaves a big gaping hole in her. While the damage can be healed, the cavity can't be restored.

But then shouldn't there be a way to randomly determine how many cavities these things have left when the PCs encounter them? These don't exist in a vacuum, you know.

Yes...but how often do you think an extradimensional space ends up in a cavity? I imagine very few of these would have less than their full number of cavities.

Well, yeah, OK.

Creepy, scary, and it makes me want to go take a shower, great work as always D1.

And also, since the disease is so hard to cure, succesful saves should only cause the subject to not have damage for the day, but it can only be cured by a remove curse or break enchantment spell, in a manner much like mummy rot.

anyways, MitP Vote; yes (this is going to be in, right?)

Nah. It should probably only be healed by a wish or miracle. That's the sense I got.

whichever way, 3 saves isn't enough

Note that the replicant virus is not the original planar disease. It's symbiotically evolved alongside the Porifyra into something entirely different.
