Just too late for Valentines Day, but here it is regardless! It isn't what I would first expect from a pink dragon, which is what I like. I'd love to hear some feedback. It was hard to find a good image, I'm still not entirely satisfied with this one.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p221/athena_da_hun/PinkDragon.jpg

Rozsaszin is an elder pink dragon, rumoured to have lived for almost a millennium. He is a truly mighty creature, soon to reach the ranks of the ancient Wyrms. Rozsaszin’s existence is very different from other dragons. He was the offspring of a red and white dragon, whose names have been lost to history. Abandoned by his parents and branded a monstrosity by other dragons, Rozsaszin had to fight for his life from a very young age. He was hunted mercilessly, and was eventually captured by a young black dragon named Ketalaukan. He was bound and tortured for days, before he managed to escape his ties. He confronted Ketalaukan and slew him, while still barely a juvenile. He fled to the borderlands, a desolate place where few things lived. In these inhospitable wastelands, Rozsaszin brooded and waited, nurturing a hatred of his kin who had forced him into exile. He terrorized border towns and farms, picking off livestock in order to survive. He depended on the other dragons not realizing he was alive, and made sure to leave no witnesses to his attacks. He spent many quiet centuries in obscurity, before finally returning to his homelands as a fully adult dragon. He held a deepest hatred towards all dragonkind, and when confronted, his fury knew no bounds. One-by-one, he challenged and killed those who had hunted him, and when all of his enemies were dead, he turned his anger to the rest of the world. He now roams the world, in search of dragons to seek further revenge upon. He calls no place home, making temporary lairs wherever he goes. His sole purpose in life is to visit death and destruction upon his kin, who had decreed him to be an abomination. He has no further desires, nor anything resembling mercy. The greatest dragons from across the world fear him, and no mortal dares to get in his way. He holds no particular hatred towards the civilized races, but he is vengeful and quick to anger. Anybody who becomes an obstacle to him is quickly removed.

Physically, Rozsaszin is stretching the limits of his size category. He is much larger than most elder dragons. He is powerfully built, with wings like sails. His structure is more like that of a red dragon than a white one, but he has an affinity for both heat and cold. His scales are a vibrant pink, although his forelegs and throat are flecked with red and white.

Lore:
A character knows the following information with a successful history check:

DC 20: Legends tell of a mighty pink dragon that despises all other dragons, and lives only to destroy them. They say he was born as the crossbreed of a red and white dragon.
DC 25: Rozsaszin is an elder pink dragon, a crossbreed between a red and a white dragon. Other dragons saw him as unnatural and tried to kill him, but he escaped into exile.
DC 30: Rozsaszin was declared an abomination by other dragons, and escaped into exile. He returned centuries later an incredibly powerful dragon, and he destroyed those who had tried to kill him. Now he roams the land in search of other dragons, so that he may fulfill his grudge against every one of his kind.
DC 35: As a wyrmling, Rozsaszin was abandoned by his parents. He was chased and hunted by other dragons, before being captured by a young black dragon named Ketalaukan. He was tortured for days, but escaped and killed his captor. This is what sowed the seeds of his immense hatred for dragons.

Tactics: Rozsaszin is anything but subtle. In combat he prefers to blast his enemies with a Burning Hailstorm, and then immediately dive in and spend an action point to use his Breath Weapon. The next turn he uses Overwhelming Presence. Afterwards, he uses Draconic, and his breath weapon when possible. He uses Burning Hailstorm to attack powerful ranged attackers. He will spend an action point later in combat to make two Draconic Fury attacks against a particularly bothersome enemy. He uses Rozsaszin’s Scorn whenever possible.

Backstory and Flavor:

so his name is pink in hungarian (being hungarian it wasn't hard to notice).

from his personal history i would like to get an explanation as to how did he defeat Ketalaukan (his Black Imprisoner) if Ketalaukan was the stronger? or if the black was indeed weaker how did he imprison Rózsaszín in the first place?

offspring rules:
if Rózsaszín would have offspring what color/element would they be? what are the chances of another offspring like Rószaszín (including offspring unrelated to Rózsaszín)?

Stats and Powers:

rimefire bite: unless the opponents have really high resistances or AC he will constantly use this attack because of the extra 4Ds in damage.

dragonic fury: why not call it double attack (i think this is the name of the green dragon's power which does exactly the same)

Interaction:
What are the chances of simply talking/bartering with Rózsaszín in an encounter? What could the PCs offer to him?
Where are his parents? dead? if yes how did they die and did they have any graves? What were the names of his parents? What would he do once he found them (i'm guessing vengeance of some sort)?
How does he feel toward dragonborn (they are mixtures as well but they are pure in color related abilities)? How does he feel toward other humanoid (especially PC) races?

His name is indeed pink in Hungarian. I am bad with names. I expected somebody to pick up on that, but perhaps not so quickly. :smalltongue:

The story about defeating Ketalaukan was intended to be a little unclear. The black dragon was older, but black dragons are usually weaker than reds, and for his age category, Rozsaszin is more powerful than a red. I'm guessing they were about evenly matched, with the Black winning earlier because he had the element of surprise. Black Dragons are lurkers, so this makes sense.

I'm not quite sure how offspring would work. I don't know if the 4e Draconomicon covered crossbreeds (I don't have it), so I'm going to guess that Rozsaszin is probably sterile. If not, he could likely contribute traits of both white and red dragons, unless the trait for "white dragon-ness" and "red dragon-ness" are somehow in one gene, in which case he would pass on all of the traits from one colour. I'm going to guess it's one of the first two possibilities. I will say that the chance of offspring is incredibly unlikely in this case.

Rimefire bite isn't that great compared to draconic fury, it's really only for opportunity attacks and any other time where a basic attack is needed. Claw is just there for Draconic Fury. Also, I called it that because all of the other dragons has a power just called "double attack". That sounded a bit boring to me.

He's not impossible to talk to, if you can manage to find a place and time to talk to him without becoming an obstacle. Unless you have something very valuable to offer, he will probably kill you. He doesn't have an eye for treasure, but the location of a powerful dragon (perhaps the head of one), or other information like that might be enough for him to accept your presence. I'm still not sure what sort of things you could get from him, though, unless you have a mutual interest in this powerful dragon being dead.

Nobody knows where his parents were. It makes sense that they fled, and didn't want anybody to know what they had done. After all, if the other dragons tried to destroy Rozsaszin, I have a feeling they wouldn't be too kind to his parents either. He would probably kill them if given the chance.

Dragonborn...I'm not sure. In some settings (Forgotten Realms, I believe) dragonborn are freed slaves of dragons who now combat their former masters. He would likely have no particular dislike of those. He would not like the dragonborn who still honour their draconic roots, which I believe are most. As I said, he has no particular hatred of the civilized (PC) races, but he has no positive feelings towards them either.

Thanks for the feedback!

What's up with Overwhelming Presence's aftereffect? It's even more powerful than Tiamat's Frightful Majesty... which has the same effect as all the other dragons' Frightful Presence...

(And yes, Draconomicon 1 covered the making of polychromatics, basically just suggesting that you add the other color's element to the base dragon's attacks and add gimped version of the resistance, then gives a few of the encounter powers as things you can trade its Frightful Presence in for...)

I found the normal dragon template a bit boring, so I didn't keep to it in every respect. This is intended to be a little more powerful than the elder red, although perhaps it is closer to level 25 than 24. As stated, I don't have the draconomicon to compare to, so I wouldn't know what Tiamat can do.

Ah. Keep in mind, though, that Ancients don't have a Daze aftereffect on their Frightful Presence, either. Daze is a rather powerful effect. (However, Ti still outshines just about any controller in terms of effect shutdown, with an at-will area blinding attack once per round accompanied by an at-will push&prone attack with 3 reach)

Here's a pair of builds for those who like following the RAW examples more... (one for an Elder Red (lv 22 base, added 2 levels using DMG guidelines) with White bloodline, the other for an Ancient White (lv 24 base) with Red bloodline...)

1. Triple critical hits and lucky surprise rounds can work wonders. The power of plot probably allowed him to win initiative too.

2. I would say revealing the location of dragons that he could slay. Dragons that are far too high a CR for the PCs but whom the PCs must pass (say said dragons that are guarding the entryway) in order to grab at the mcguffin. It'd be a lengthy quest that any GM would spring on adventurers and no sane group of mid level PCs, even with the help of a hired army (which they probably can't finance) would take on a pack of dragons just to grab at a coffee mug that says 'I love Jesus' or whatever (whatever that was in the indiana jones/family guy play off).

Also, one would expect to see things like pink dragons in 4e. Oh snap.

those alternatives seem nice. if you don't mind i'll be bombing you with some questions in PMs... i'll be asking for advice mainly (i think i'm pretty close to kill my party just because i made my dungémons too strong /and simple/).

imp_fireball:
we no longer have CR. although you did bring back memories. "divide et impera" or something like that? :) as a DM how would you define the XP given to the PCs for making the dragons fight it out (without any combat assistance from the players)?

Go ahead... but you'd probably get more varied and complete advice if you make a thread in the Roleplaying Games forum, or if you post the monsters on a new Homebrew thread. I'd try these methods first, unless your players traverse these fora regularly...

If both dragons die because they killed each other through the PCs' prodding, then I'd give the PCs the full XP for killing off the dragons. If they bloody each other then fly off, maybe half from each. If one overpowers the other, maybe the experience for killing the weaker dragon. This is assuming that the dragons would not have fought each other without the PCs...
