StormWinds: The Lost Campaigns

I've been playing this (Flash game) recently, and I think it's pretty darn cool. I used to dislike it because you could only fire one gun at a time, but I've grown to enjoy that. Anyway, I just finished the Insane 25 campaign. Anyone else playing this? Tips/comments?

Anyways, aside from putting 3-4 plasmid cannons with 1-2 damage booster towers, I've found that the heavy cannon is just too powerful. With enough skill, you're picking off smaller ships one by one, and the big ones can't even reach halfway through. Its damage potential is obscene too.
