My short campaign, Taris Resists! (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=105043) starts tomorrow evening. The Taris Resistance (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Taris_Resistance) is going to be a major part of it, given they're the outfit to which our two Jedi PCs belong. Thing is, we don't know a great deal about it, especially after the failed assassination attempt on Cassus Fett, and the Mandalorian attack on the Resistance base that happened almost simultaneously. The survivors called what happened afterwards The Retreat, as they fled into the Undercity to escape the Mandalorians.

My game is set a few weeks after that. What we know for sure is that Senator Goravvus (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Goravvus)is nominally in charge of the movement. It's a pretty disparate group of people, composed of all sorts of conflicting interests, and by no means united.

It is riven with factions, including a noble faction (who think they should be in charge); a constable faction (quite a few peace officers had joined up); a criminal faction (the leader of which is probably Gadon Thek (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Gadon), since the Hidden Beks make up a major section of that); an alien faction (70% of Taris (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Taris)' population is non-human, but the racist regime that ran things were anti-alien, this is a counterweight to the nobles); maybe an Outcast (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Outcast)faction, representing those from the Undercity displaced by the fighting; there might be a few others, and of course some unaligned people who just want to live one day to the next.

Thing is, I could try to fill out some of these with notable figures, but they'd all end up a bit samey because only one person was behind them. I really want the Resistance to be a rogue's gallery of interesting people. Not just leaders of factions, but lieutenants, rank and file, and independents too. Not everyone is a cop, criminal or aristo (though they're good too), there's all sorts of ordinary people swept up into this, or off-worlders in the wrong place at the wrong time.

All I'm after is a name and a brief, paragraph-long bio. Possibly which faction (if any) they're aligned to, and something of interest. For example:

Countess Freja d'Monde. Vain, arrogant, self-important, d'Monde's father had been a minister and powerful politician in Taris' Executive Assembly before the Mandalorians arrived (the Earl d'Monde was killed in a bombardment). A staunch supporter of Taris' anti-alien customs, she is the leader of the noble faction by dint of rank - she's ninth in line to the throne of Taris' old monarchy. While she's been forced to accept Goravvus' leadership for the time being, she believes it should be her who leads the Resistance. The liberation of Taris is both her patriotic duty, and his birthright.

As befits one of her station, she's protected by a trio of genetically-engineered, clone life-wards (courtesy of Adascorp (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Adascorp)), there were more but they were killed in the retreat. While she isn't impressed with the reduction in status that living with a bunch of rebels in the much of the Undercity carries, she sees it as a long-term investment for maximum reward when all this is over.

So, Star Wars NPCs who could have made it as part of an outlawed movement on an occupied world.

Here's another one.

Tuc Boran. A huge Epicanthix (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Epicanthix), being near-human allowed him to escape the worst of Taris' prejudicial laws, rising to the rank of foreman at one of the Lhosan Industries (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lhosan) plants. He was loyal to his fellow working being, and didn't care what species they were if they worked hard. He ran one of the most productive crews, largely through force of personality.

When Lhosan pulled out of Taris after the Padawan Massacre, Tuc was left unemployed for the first time in his life. Unable to sit by and do nothing when the Mandalorians arrived and destroyed his home, he joined the Resistance, becoming an unofficial leader of those workers and others from the Middle City, along with those not really aligned to any particular faction.

Rowan Woga, a.k.a. "Mad R"
The guy's a local oddity. Watching his whole family die during the bombardment, this ageing middle-class trader seems to have completely lost his wits. He's been roaming the streets ever since, clearly preferring large crowds. He doesn't shout prophecies of apocalypse out loud, unless specifically questioned about his view of the situation.
When the resistance was pushed into the Undercity, he, too, followed, equally shunned and ignored by all present factions. Most people(and aliens, for that matter) don't mind him overhearing when they say anything important, and because he wanders everywhere, he does know a lot. however, his peculiar manner of speaking(that is, totally incoherent) makes him a somewhat unreliable source of information.

Pter "The Red Gun" Numas

A middle-aged man, Pter is an off-world bounty hunter, here because he supports the old government. His battle-scarred armor is a testament to his experience.

So he claims, anyway. While Pter really is from off-world, he's actually a historian/re-enactor who sees this as his chance to live the glory of war in person. He's pretended to be highly skilled in order to find acceptance, but is in actuality merely a normal civilian. He just might cause the Resistance some trouble if he turns out to be less courageous than he thinks.

Leeza Star

Both waitress and pickpocket, Leeza is a fairly young woman of slight build. Friendly and likable, at least until she robs you blind, Leeza is known for her neon green lipstick and mohawk. At least, she will be until she decides to change them. A pickpocket can't be too easily identifiable, after all.

Excellent, keep them coming. I've got a couple more.

Midship Theeku Kelbis. A young, softly-spoken Rodian (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Rodian), Kelbis is a generational, from an expatriate Naval family on Coruscant. The most junior deck officer aboard a Republic ship destroyed over Taris, when the evacuation order was given, he boarded an escape pod with a squad of Republic soldiers. They landed on the planet and were immediately set upon by rakghouls.

It took them several days to fight their way clear to hook up with the resistance. During that time it became clear the young midship had a very important command quality: he was incredibly lucky. While no tactical genius, men who followed his orders tended to live. He's become something of a mascot to the soldiers with him, who affectionately call him "Boy Wonder". Despite not being fully-grown yet, Kelbis is also fearless as a leader.

Nysa. A Nikto (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Nikto)mercenary addicted to stims, Nysa is a tough, no-nonsense kind of woman who's already seen action against the Mandalorians in the non-aligned worlds out on the Rim. She was just passing through Taris looking for work when the Mandos arrived right at her doorstep.

She has actually been a Mandalorian Crusader in her time (though is now considered dar'manda), fighting with them as well as against them, and still wears the armour she built. She has a particular hatred for the Neo-Crusader "cult", which she thinks is a perversion of everything the Crusaders stood for. Regardless, the Resistance is glad to have her blaster and blade on their side.

I came up with another one, in case you need him)
Dr. Liv'Sae
This huge muscular white-skinned Twi'lek would look at home in a pitfight, but chose instead to become a medic, although he does stem from a noble warrior family. He used to be one of the five city-heads back on Ryloth until one of his fellow leaders died of old age and the rest were cast out.
He became a travelling scientist, occasionally aiding those in desperate need of medical help(for quite a nice sum of money, obviously) and eventually ending up on Taris to study the rakghouls.
The guy is most certainly well-bred and educated, smiles a lot and does know his trade. He is also quite skillful with a double-blade and a cruel melee combatant when the situation needs it.

PS. How did it go?
