Request: Evil OOTS!

After seeing the latest comic, and the the sheer force of AWESOME that was infused into V during the Soul Splice, I got an idea:

What would happen, if say, the other OOTS members fell to the temtations of the IFCC and underwent their own Soul Splices?

Please note that this isn't for use beyond looking cool in this thread-I'm perfectly fine with my own avatar, so if somone else wants them, I'm cool. It is for that reason that I'm laying few rules down, and letting your imaginations run wild otherwise.

Roy: Sword crackling with red lighting. I'm sorry, but's mandated by Article 3 Section 2 of Evil Costume Switch laws that if you are a fighter and become infused with evil magic, you are mandated by law to get a sword crackling with red lighting.

Haley: Maybe green eyes, to symbolize envy.

Elan: Theatrical mask. Same Article, same law, albeit in regards to music themed baddies.

Durkon: *Ahem* Evil-looking armour, anyone?

Belkar: Tattoes. Tattoes, tattoes, tattoes.

I'd figure it'd be standard Belkar, with a couple of ghostly beings of pure evil just kinda whimpering in fear in the background.

Roy: Red lightning sword, of course. His skin should resemble that of his decaying body from earlier. Also black spiky armor and pointy teeth. Note: when you soul splice, you automatically get pointy teeth, no matter who you are.

Haley: Remember her goth-y self? Take that, and add the pointy teeth, and possibly red veins over her skin.

Elan: Mask and elegant black clothes. Glowing blue eyes. Real face horribly disfigured.

Durkon: Black and spiky armor, hammer, and shield. Glowing white eyes. Spiky beard. Red amulet.

Belkar: Pointy teeth, otherwise the same.

I may attempt to draw one or some of these later. But probably not.

Is there any more dramatic horror monster than the vampire? It's about the only one that actually has anything to gain from having a high Cha as well (considering it gets a +4).

I'll claim "Artistic licence" meaning it is supposed to be natural glass of some sort. I'm pretty sure obsidian glass can have plenty of colours depending on impurities present.

This one is better than the goofy Haley I did first, but there is too much fine detail lost when it is scaled down to avatar friendly size. Ironically due to its nature I won't be giving it to anyone for avatar use. Unless mods would be okay with it of course. Not much left of Haley is there and the whole "rogue" thing eh?

Y'know, I like the art... But it's been bugging me. I thought people were being triple-spliced, not just Alignment-Bendered. I want to see the influences of their splices:

Roy: CE Barbarian Warlord provides raw stat boosts, NE Assassin for tactical options, and a LE Blackguard for (de)buffs.

Haley: CE Ranger... let's face it, Belkar's mother. It'd be hilarious. NE would be another assassin, perhaps Therkla? The LE would be a Monk, providing a tactical reason for Haley to strip off her armor. Heh.

Durkon: CE Cleric of Loki provides chaos, NE Druid provides trees, and LE Cleric of Surtur provides evil (since he's already lawful.)

Elan: A LE Sorceror focused on enchantment and illusion augments his modest arcane abilities. A NE Fighter who was an extraordinary mercenary in life. A LE duelist further augments his combat abilities.

Belkar: Roy's Grandpa, Girard, and the dwarf from the Order of the Scribble that I can't recall the name of. Swap one of them out for Right Eye, if someone who read Start of Darkness would consider him Good. Very difficult to improve on Belkar's awesome.

You make a good point as always Ganurath. I choose to draw evil versions using the rule of cool without regard to how they might be spliced because it's easier. Drawing the stuff is hard work as is. :smallwink:

This Little strip is a horrible horrible practice session in masking and layering. Every panel uses at least one instance of masking. I'm sure that anyone that studied and picked apart the original SVG file would shriek in terror.

I actually noticed this shortly after I uploaded the picture when I read the linear guild article on Wiki. Small mistake, I won't loose any sleep because of it (Although I DID have terrible and surreal nightmares last night). It is just a simple six panel parody and Rich himself forgot the rule back in strip 142.

I tried auras and glow effects to make it more interesting but sometimes simple is best. The shield was actually gonna have wings at first. But I figured those blades would make good sword breakers.

I don't use a tablet when I draw. It might be useful in the sketch phase, but I think a mouse is actually preferable when you manipulate nodes and fine-tune the art while doing vector artwork.

I tried to illustrate religious elation. Methinks it turned out pretty well?
The reason I (mostly) don't do exclusives or requests is because I nitpick and fiddle with details too much. This picture took me six hours to complete. If I drew something and put the same effort as I did for this for a stranger, I'd have to ask for a commission really.

The quote is Accipere quam facere praestat injuriam - "It is better to suffer an injustice than to do an injustice". I did it for fun to emulate mediaeval writing.

Just a small update to share the process. All the dialogue is written and I've laid out the layout in Inkscape.

Shown are the dialogue and border layers. Speech bubbles will be done in its own layer later and the current bubbles in the dialogue layer will be hidden. Some panels have text in them. Those are notes with details I want to add later.

I'm a regular layer-fascist now. But it made all the work on this first phase a breeze. Also, this gonna take a few days so chill out. The half page panel on the last page will probably take a day alone to draw.
