Amulet of Infinite Resplendence
These simple talismans of gold and platinum, set with an Eberron dragonshard, hold a wardrobe on par with that of any high society fop. When a command word is spoken, the amulet will create any outfit the wearer can imagine, forming the clothes out of illusionary light. The clothes, while illusionary, are material–regardless of their design, the light-cloth has the approximate weight and texture of cotton. Clothing created by the amulet never provides any mechanical benefits, although it can help avoid penalties on social skill checks. However, if the wearer uses the item to mimic the color and patterns of their surrounding, it may grant them a +3 competence bonus on Hide checks as long as they remain within that environment–the amulet is not designed for camouflage, but still can provide minor concealment. While users of amulets of infinite resplendence need not wear any additional clothing for the sake of protection against ordinary exposure to the elements, modest undergarments help avoid embarrassment should the amulet be dispelled or overcome with a true seeing spell.

Faint Illusion, CL 3rd. Craft Wondrous Item, silent image. Cost 450 gp + 36 xp. Price 900 gp.

Auspicious Calculation Engine
These abacuses of darkwood and Eberron dragonshards can be used to calculate probabilities and almost perfectly divine the future. Operating an auspicious calculation engine to perform a single divination takes ten minutes, and requires the user successfully make a DC 15 Intelligence or Use Magic Device check. By taking a -20 penalty on their check, a user could perform the divination as a full-round action. The engine can perform two kinds of calculations. It can be used to prophecy the future, as the divination spell. In addition, it can be used to calculate the odds of any task or fight being successful. If a character uses the engine to calculate the odds of a task, the DM should tell their player the DC required to successfully perform the task. If they use it to calculate the odds of a fight, a DM should tell the player the encounter level of the enemies they face. An auspicious calculation engine can perform a total of three divinations per day.

Moderate Divination, CL 7th. Craft Wondrous Item, divination. Cost 15,000 gp + 1,200 xp. Price 30,000 gp. Weight 10 lbs.

Balm of Pleasing Redolence
This milky white lotion, when rubbed over the body, suppresses any unpleasant odors. A single application is enough to coat a Medium or Small-sized creature, and lasts for 24 hours. Any extraordinary special attacks or qualities based on offensive odors, such as the troglodyte’s stench, are negated if that creature applies the balm. Applying balm of pleasing redolence to an unwilling creature requires a touch attack, made at a -4 penalty due to the awkwardness of trying to smear an enemy with lotion.

Faint Universal, CL 3rd. Craft Wondrous Item, prestidigitation. Cost 5 sp. Price 1 gp.

Cauldron of Ceaseless Alchemy
These cauldrons are of inestimable aid to brewers of alchemical compounds and magical potions. If a character pours the materials needed to produce an alchemical item into such a cauldron and speaks a command word, the cauldron will brew the alchemical item itself, using the Craft (Alchemy) modifier of the character who spoke the command word. Once the alchemical compound has been successfully created, a spigot can be turned to pour it out into an appropriate container. The cauldron of ceaseless alchemy also allows characters to brew magical potions, even if they lack the Brew Potion feat. To do so, they must still place all material components required to craft the potion into the cauldron, pay the potion’s XP cost, and expend the spell needed to meet the potion’s prerequisites. The XP cost is doubled if you do not actually have the Brew Potion feat yourself. Preparing the cauldron to brew an alchemical compound takes one minute; preparing it to brew a potion takes an hour. The cauldron can only spend eight hours each day working to create an alchemical item or potion; for the remainder of the day, it sits inactive, letting the alchemical substance or potion steep.

Moderate Transmutation, CL 9th. Craft Wondrous Item, Brew Potion, fabricate. Cost 5,000 gp + 400 xp. Price 10,000 gp. Weight 30 lbs.

Flute of Purest Chalcedony
These crystalline wineglasses are a favorite of paranoid nobility, and have even found some use among adventurers. Any drink or other liquid poured into one of these glasses is magically purified and cleansed of any poisons or diseases, rendered perfectly safe for drinking.

Faint Transmutation, CL 3rd. Craft Wondrous Item, purify food and drink. Cost 250 gp + 20 xp. Price 500 gp.

Ignition Gem
These trinkets are minute rubies endowed with a minor magical flame, often set in a metallic rod or holster. An ignition gem can be used in place of a flint and steel to light fires. Doing so is a free action. An ignition gem can never be used to deal fire damage to a creature or non-flammable item.

Faint Evocation, CL 3rd. Craft Wondrous Item, burning hands. Cost 5 gp + 1 xp. Price 10 gp.

Lenses of Perfect Recall
Ever-useful for students and scholars alike, anyone wearing these distinctive, blue-lensed spectacles gains the ability to perfectly recall any of their memories. They never forget anything, and can recall anything they have ever experienced down to the most trivial details. The lenses do nothing to overcome the effects of magical memory modification, nor do they allow a wizard to prepare spells in his spellbook from memory, without having access to the spellbook. They do help recall odd bits of lore and trivia–while wearing them, you gain a +1 competence bonus on all Knowledge checks, as long as you have at least 5 ranks in that skill.

Faint Divination, CL 3rd. Craft Wondrous Item, detect thoughts. Cost 250 gp + 20 xp. Price 500 gp.

Oathstone
A magical item with multifarious uses, oathstones are simple ways to seal a bargain. Whenever two or more individuals or parties agree to a promise, bargain, contract, or similar agreement, they may choose to swear it on an oathstone. They must touch the stone as they speak the agreement, after which it briefly shines a brilliant green, and then breaks into two pieces (or more, if the agreement was made between more than two parties). If ever one party should break their side of the agreement, then all shards of the oathstone glow a steady viridian green, letting all members of the oath know it has been broken (but not by who). Unlike many other similar oath-enforcing magics, an oathstone does not require all parties swearing on it to be uncoerced or free of magical influence. Once shattered to mark an oath, an oathstone can never be re-made.

Moderate Divination, CL 7th. Craft Wondrous Item, discern lies. Cost 15 gp + 1 xp. Price 30 gp.

Savant Crystal
An everyday trinket, the savant crystal is an ensorcelled opal set in a golden armband. The crystal displays runes indicating a wide array of useful information: one glyph acts as a compass needle, pointing the way north; another indicates the wearer’s height above sea level; a complex ring of runes indicates what time it is; and thirteen circular glyphs indicate the phase of each moon.

Faint Divination, CL 3rd. Craft Wondrous Item, know direction. Cost 12.5 gp + 1 xp. Price 25 gp.

Scrivener’s Codex
A simple convenience, a scrivener’s codex is a pocket-sized notebook that can magically record any speech dictated to it. The appearance of these books varies widely based on the individual aesthetics of their designer–some are sleek, metallic-cased notebooks with an array of mechanical devices that write down what is dictated in ultramodern font; others are leather journals that record what is said to them with nothing more than magic. To have a scrivener’s codex begin taking dictation, one must first address it with a command word, typically printed on the cover. After that, anything that the person who said the command word (or anyone capable of perfectly mimicking their voice) says within 30 ft. of the codex is written down. Saying the command word a second time causes the codex to cease taking dictation. The codex holds one-hundred pages, although these can be replaced at any time with minimal difficulty.

In addition, two variations of the scrivener’s codex exist. The forger’s codex, as its name applies, can mimic the handwriting of others. It contains a compartment, into which a writing sample of anyone whose handwriting is to be copied must be placed. If this is done, then anything dictated to the codex is written in that handwriting, essentially granting the speaker a +5 competence bonus on the Forgery check to copy the handwriting.

The spy’s codex will record anything spoken within 30 ft. of it after its command word has been given, not just what the speaker of the command word says. It is incapable of identifying different speakers, but will differentiate among them by using different font styles.

Scrivener’s Codex: Faint transmutation, CL 3rd. Craft Wondrous Item, amanuensisSC. Cost 25 gp + 2 xp. Price 50 gp.

Forger’s Codex: Faint transmutation, CL 3rd. Craft Wondrous Item, amanuensisSC, creator must have at least 5 ranks in Forgery. Cost 1,250 gp + 100 xp. Price 2,500 gp.

Spy’s Codex: Faint divination and transmutation, CL 5th. Craft Wondrous Item, amanuensisSC, clairaudience/clairyvoyance. Cost 3,000 gp + 220 xp. Price 6,000 gp.

Wind-Gazing Oracle
These magical devices are rarely used by anyone outside of House Lyrandar, as their sole useful function is in tracking airships. Each wind-gazing oracle is a flat disc of crystal, about 3 ft. in diameter. When the command word is given, the oracle projects an illusory image displaying the sky and all flying things within 100 miles. Further command words can be spoken to fine-tune the image, allowing flying creatures or objects of certain size categories to be ignored–thus, a tower attendant interested only in keeping track of airships might cause anything Large or smaller to not be displayed, while a bored Lyrandar heir might cause the oracle to display only flying things of Small size or smaller, so that they may watch the flight patterns of birds. In addition, the oracle can magnify any portion of the image, allowing it to be viewed clearly, as if the viewer were observing from 500 ft. away under perfect lighting.

Moderate Divination, CL 7th. Craft Wondrous Item, scrying. Cost 25,000 gp + 2,000 xp. Price 50,000 gp.

Vault of Secret Sanctum
On the outside, a vault of secret sanctum appears to be nothing more than a simple, but elegantly made darkwood wardrobe. However, opening the door reveals an extraplanar space within the vault, a chamber room that is 20 ft. wide, tall, and long. The room is unfurnished, although the vault’s owner may place anything they want within it. The chamber is constantly kept at a pleasant temperature, and even with the wardrobe door closed, characters within the chamber never risk suffocation, as a prestidigitation spell, coupled with the effect of the extradimensional space, creates an effectively limitless supply of oxygen. If used as a mobile treasure trove, the vault of secret sanctum can store a total of 50,000 lbs. A vault of secret sanctums is made to be openable from both inside or outside, but locks or abjurations could be used to turn it into an extradimensional prison, or fortify it against intrusion.

Strong conjuration, CL 12th. Craft Wondrous Item, prestidigitation, secret chest. Cost 25,000 gp + 2,000 xp. Price 50,000 gp. Weight 100 lbs.

Winterbreath Urn
These clay pots are endowed with a minor dweomer that keeps their interior at a constantly cool temperature as long as their lid remains closed. Food placed in a winterbreath urn will keep for up to a month. A single winterbreath urn can hold, at most, a single cubic foot of food.

Faint universal, CL 3rd. Craft Wondrous Item, prestidigitation. Cost 50 gp + 2 xp. Price 100 gp. Weight 1 lbs.

Amulet of Infinite Resplendence

So can it, or can it not create a functional parka that will prevent hypothermia and/or frostbite? Would snow goggles work if created? What about using it to make Camo suitable for the spot you are standing (like if you happen to want to hide on the only large patch of snow remaining in a muddy feild for some reason. The parka I could see not working, but the camo would be very hard not to justify since you can pick the color and pattern.

Auspicious Calculation Engine
I would make the -20 only make it a full round action...

Balm of Pleasing Redolence
<Snip>Any special attacks or qualities based on offensive odors, such as the troglodyte’s stench, are negated if the apply the balm.
Typo here I think. And do you have to apply it to the troglodyte to negate his smell, or does having it on someone facing the troglodyte render them immune to it?

Cauldron of Ceaseless Alchemy

<Snip>
preparing it to brew a potion takes an hour.

Moderate Transmutation, CL 9th. Craft Wondrous Item, Brew Potion, fabricate. Cost 5,000 gp + 400 xp. Price 10,000 gp. Weight 30 lbs.

The ability of an open-topped container to store and decant Alchemists Fire without igniting it supposed to be part of the magic?

Also, 10,000 seems a bit cheap for something that is BETTER than an item creation feat (since it does it in less time, and with no limit of only working 8 hours a day).

Will review more later.

Basically, it gives you all the protection against the elements you would get from wearing a cotton shirt and pants–no mechanical benefits, like a parka. I'll specify that. Also, I think I'll do something with camo.

Sure, seems reasonable.

The troglodyte would have to have it put on to negate the smell.

I'll specify that it can only work for eight hours a day, or the equivalent. Also, look at the dedicated wright homunculus–the cost to create it is 2100 gp, plus some XP, and it can make almost any kind of item. I figured that the extra 6,000 gp of price and the limitation to potions makes up for granting the feat.

I disagree. Feats are in extremely limited quantity, and here you're providing something better than the feat (since it still works 8x faster than the feat) for a mere 10,000 gold. I'd take that deal in a second.

I'd recommend one of two things to fix it:

First solution, since the item already only does Alchemy based on the user's alchemy skill, make it do potions the same way. It'll brew potions faster than would otherwise be possible, but you need the Brew Potion feat to use it.

Alternatively, let it brew for non-potion makers, but give potion makers a decided advantage when using it...perhaps they get a reduced xp and gold cost (say, -25%) for the potions. This mimics the benefits of Extraordinary Artisan and Legendary Artisan, but only for one type of item, and wouldn't stack with those feats if they are already possessed by the user.

Does this sound reasonable?

Ignition Gem

At only x10 the price of a tindertwig, this would make Tindertwigs obsolete.

Lenses of Perfect Recall
Only 500 for a Spellbook with unlimited pages and a +2 (or more) for reference works to all knowledge checks you have ever had access to large amounts of reference material on for effectively having an entire library you can access in your head (you might have just glanced at each page the first time around, rather than actually thinking about what it said). I think you may be off by more than an order of magnitude on what this thing is worth.

Savant Crystal
Ummm.... you DO realize that accurate time-keeping is the key to longitudinal navigation don't you? That there was a prize of a LARGE pile of gold at one point in history for the first one to figure out how to handle that part of navigation? Specify this is off by as much as 1 minutes per day since it was last calibrated (or maybe more), or only keeps LOCAL time, or multiply the cost by 100 or more.

Wind-Gazing Oracle
Awful hard to pick out most objects at that zoom level, and assuming it displays the context as well (so you don't get lost) this is a very very powerful scrying effect.

Not sure how bad a thing that is–are tindertwigs really that big a part of the game? Plus, it's a magical zippo. Gotta love that.

I'll specify it can't be used to remember spells, or to aid on Knowledge checks. It's supposed to be a flavor item with occasional uses for savvy players, not something mechanically powerful.

Don't really feel like longitudinal navigation is really that big a deal in most D&D games...

The limitations are that it's local, it's only flying things, and that the zoom is pretty sucky for anything smaller than an airship. It'd be useful for tracking something airborne, but at the same time, so would the 8k-cheaper crystal ball.

I ended up doing the opposite–people without the feat pay twice the XP cost.

Yeah, I rushed what I was trying to say a bit. The prt I left out was that it doesn't allow a will save. Which is fine if it doesn't show anything else for background I think.

P.S. Tindertwigs matter for candle-casters... not that I have seen much mention of that class on these boards.

I think the inability to follow a specific target sorta makes up for that.

I don't think they ever got converted to 3.5...

I don't think they ever got converted to 3.5...
Doesn't matter: anything from 3.0 is automatically included unless it has been specifically updated. Loophole has been used many times to get Iajutsu Focus for extra damage, see the Kitchen Sink thread.

Candlecasters are.... interesting. It takes half the class before your candles are even as good as scrolls, and putting metamagic on a scroll is a quick way to lose all your money. It's best used to set up faster buffing routines when you can start setting off candles with two spells in them simultaneously, but I wouldn't want to spend the money to increase caster level for blasting, considering that the artificer uses wands and get flack for it.
