If a Cold subtype creature casts Fire Shield on itself so that it'd take half damage from Fire attacks, and then also casts Resist Energy on itself to give itself DR 30 vs Fire, what damage would it take from a Maximized Orb of Fire (90 damage normally)? I need order of operations clarification here.

Is it 90/2 (Fire Shield) and then -30 (Resist Energy) and then *1.5 (vulnerability to fire) or maybe it's -30 first and then the percentage reductions and increases apply? In the first case the damage would be a paltry 23. In the second case, the damage would be 45.

Check out the FAQ, this is addressed there.

I believe that the ruling the sage gave is that the affected creature applies all bonuses and vulnerabilities in the most advantageous way for him.

Thus the damage would probably be halfed, then have 30 subtracted from it, then the remainder would be multiplied by 1.5 times.

So yea, the damage would be 23 in the case of a maximized Orb of Fire.
