Actually, you know what would be hilarious? If 666 is when Roy is ressurrected, complete with as much angelic imagery as possible for the big splash image when the spell goes off.

That would be pretty hilarious

You've just jinxed it though.
I've never seen a webcomic do anything significant on episode 666. Often times, I see people on forums pumping themselves up in anticipation for something satanic/angelic or whatever to happen on episode 666 and then what does the artist do? Nothing. Out of spite.

I think 666 is a neat number because it's so... well... symmetric. Same as 101, 121, etc, but it's got more charm because all the numbers are the same, instead of just 2 of them. So, it's like 111, 222, 333, 444 and eventually 777. I'd like Rich to do something very nice and symmetric there.

You know, strip 111 Durkon turned into a giant.

In strip 222, a couple was reunited.

In strip 333, Durkon was happy after realizing he was going home.

In strip 444, Roy had just died.

In strip 555, we got to know a ninja half-or better.

Clearly, judging by the pattern, in strip 666, we'll all get Rick Rolled.

You guys know that the actual number of the beast is 616, right? 666 came from a mistranslation.
If you believe in that kind of thing, that is.

I know, in the public consciousness, 666 is still considered evil.

Questionable Content did it with theirs.

But otherwise I have seen very little, and to be honest, I prefer it that way, because the number is really meaningless to most of us. It certainly doesn't mean anything to do me, and I see no reason to continue associating it at random with anything just because some consider it some sort of "evil" number.

I hope there isnt one -- 665 to 667. Soon this topic will be closed.

Strictly speaking, I'm pretty sure the translation can go either way.

I don't understand, there is no possible signifigance to the number 666!

(Just kidding, this thread will get locked because of political correctness).

Apparently, he was waiting three years for it. (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=666)

See, now you've really got me hoping for this :smalltongue:

The number is just a reference to one of the Roman emperors of the time (most likely Nero or Caligula, depending on the way their "names" are counted), it's really silly how some people get excited about it.

And yes, it's actually 616, not 666 (though 666 "looks better") :smalltongue:

Strip 666 will be when the 665 is finished, yet 667 is not.

It amazes me that no matter how many of these threads get locked people just keep making more...

... the comic continues its plot as 666 is just a number with no symbolic meaning.

Of course, one reason is that few webcomics reach 666 postings. Even 100 is considered a matter of considerable achievement.

You guys know that the actual number of the beast is 616, right? 666 came from a mistranslation.

Well technically it's not a mistranslation because everything is in Greek. It's just that ancient Greek has a somewhat confusing and easily corrupted way of denoting numbers by letters, and some early manuscripts have 616, while others have 666.

Bible scholarship has traditionally relied on Irenaeus, who in the 2nd century acknowledged that some redactions of the Book of Revelation have 616, while others have 666 and that the latter are more reliable. In the light of this, the discovery of very early manuscripts with 616 is not really surprising. It sounds rather flashy to come and announce that "all you guys have been thinking X for millennia but it's really Y", but this is not how critical textual study works; in reality it's really too early to say which of the two is the original or the way it's meant to be, and all we can say is that we have both versions.

Of course the numerologists would hate this; it's easy, if unpleasant, to have one truth replaced by another, but it's often unbearable to have it replaced by uncertainty and ambiguity.
