While Warren Ellis' Global Frequency comics might be old news, it was a new find for me.
Running from 2002 to 2003, Global Frequency is 12-issue series of standalone science-fiction stories. It tells the story of the titular organisation "Global Frequency", which employs a thousand agents around the world. These agents are not military, but rather civilian specialists that are called to resolve extraordinary situations ranging from goverment weapons testing gone wrong to alien mind manipulation turning people into mindless killers.
Each story is standalone, so it is technically possible to hop on at any point of the series. The main characters change between stories, which gives the story some unpredictability, since the writer can kill of his characters with relative freedom.
The art is also done by a different artist for every issue. These artists include such names as Lee Bermejo, Steve Dillon, Glenn Fabry and many others.
Bizarre sci-fi scenarios, kickass action, a fast pace and good art to go with it. I'm really excited about Global Frequency. If you haven't read it, I suggest you pick it up.
