View Full Version : Have you ever questioned yourself what Strip #666 might contain?

We are close to The Numbr, so I just wanted to have the pleasure of asking it myself.
The title says it all... Its intreguing. Maybe it will contain scenes of explicit violence and gore. :smallconfused:

Or maybe Giant will just skip the strip and jump directly from #665 to #667...
What do you think?

My guess is that everyone will be poking fun at demons, hell, everything about the underworld in general.

as 600, among others, shows, the odds are good that 666 will not be superior to 665 or 667. It may be worth waiting for, but not especially worth waiting for.

Considering we're in V's story now, possibly something really bad and really evil, or it might return back to comedy. it's... ummm.. *does some math* 27 strips to go. Alot can happen in such amount of pages.
Or maybe Rich wasn't really planing anything special, but after seeing this thread he'll start getting all sorts of ideas..
We should brace ourselves.

616 is the second number considered to be the mark of the beast and nothing special happened there, so I don't think 666 will be any different.

Not really just a random guess, I'm not being serious.

Maybe Tiamat unleashes her unholy vengance on the elven race as Tiamat unleashes an equally disproportionate amount of Vengance upon the Elves and the IFCC. She's probably going to grab Lee and turn him into shishkebab at best, leave the elven race and the IFCC's hopes and dreams a smoldering ruin at worst.

As I recall, Rich *HATES* fufilling people's expectations. So I think 666 will be just a normal comic.

So then I made the greatest mistake ever: expectating something, showing it in public, sharing my expectations with everyone, which its resuslt will be that Rich will do exactly a different thing...
...
Naturally. I'm such an idiot. Why do I keep doing these things? I will learn not to spoil future events anymore one day.

'spoil future events'?

Sounds like being alive to me

Except in specific context, the number "666" is nothing more than a number. If nothing special was done for strip 500, I doubt anything special will be done for 666.

Didn't we see this exact same thread, like, a week ago?

EDIT::::

Yeah, we did... http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106642
It got locked for religious implications.

Ehh, not like I think anything special will be done for strip 666 (At most, some "I bet someone expected something special for this strip" sort of joke), but, haven't, like, 3 threads of this same topic been closed recently in the forums? :smallconfused:

Specially this one, as rgrekejin said, about a week ago? :smallconfused:
(Just sayin')

But then again there was another one that didn't get locked so evidently it's a 50/50 deal.

I am confident it will include: Belkar, or Roy, or Haley, or V, or Durkon, or Elan, or Redcloak, or Xykon, or Nale.

Maybe others, maybe not. But I'm pretty sure it will include one of those people.

I'm 99.9% certain it will include at least one stick figure drawn in OOTS style.

I think it'll either be ignored entirely, or a pure gag strip. No in-between. Maybe the IFCC doing viewer mail.

Well, since 8-bit theatre ignored 666 i think we can safely assume that OOTS will too.

Rich strikes me as a non-superstitious, a-religious individual...

So my guess is nothing more than 665, nothing less than 667.

That number has real world modern religious connotations. OOTS has nothing to do with real world modern religions. (Contemporary worshippers of Thor notwithstanding).

I seriously doubt Rich will make any big deal about it. Not only would it be cheesy and predictable, but many, many people would find it in bad taste, at the least.

Just waiting for this thread to get locked...

I'm betting we go from 665 to 667 and 667 starts with a 'You had to be there' intro.

Since #404 isn't missing (as in xkcd (http://xkcd.com/404/), I don't think anything special would happen.
Since Rich tends not to comply with expectations, and every possible solution was suggested here (as of: something odd happening, nothing interesting happening, nothing interesting happening but some characters expect it to be, page is missing), I just don't know how to make a strip that was not suggested (excluding obvious suggestions made by joke).

What if it will be just a plain black page? No one would see that coming.
Oh wait. I just did. Darn.

666 is just a number without any symbolic meaning. The comic with that particular number will be part of the plot, just like comics 640 and beyond will be, although the comic will end when the story to be told ends.

I think you mean 600, not 500. I mean 500 was huge character development for Roy and it was lik 4 pages long.

Strip 666 will be another page in the story. It wont therefore have any special significance just because it is a number some people think should stand out (or expect will).

Unless it does and I'm wrong (maybe it will turn out it falls on some sort of hellish valentines day and Qarr will be seen giving a still beating heart to some succubus down in the IFCC's H/R department).

Me, I expect a joint appearance of the three fiends (one for each digit) and some sort of resolution or at least critical moment in the resolution of V's corruption plot.

Yeah, it was 4 pages long, and important, but I don't think it's because it is the 500th strip. For this matter, #406 sticks out even more, while that's really a not at all interesting number.
