I'm quiet, and thin, and quick. I squeak a lot, perhaps not online, but often in real life. I rather like to hide in hidey-holes, especially inside walls. I like cheese, and running about, and am easily confused by larger predators, especially kitteh-cats, such as Reinholdt. Like all (other) mice, I'm highly intelligent... and.. and..

Red foxes are as much catlike as they are doglike, if not more. They have a tapetum (a mirrored surface at the back of their eyes to catch more light), vertical slit pupils, retractable claws, nocturnal hunting habits, hunt solitary or in pairs, and stalk their prayer before pouncing. I think foxes are different enough from both, but I'm not sure that should be a category. These three seem fine to me.

to vote for me for Dog:

My most commonly used D&D race are Lupins, which are humanoid wolves, and the other races I use tend to be similar.
I feel as though I'd be much more comfortable as a canid that I am as a human.
My main freeform character when I was in HALO was a talking fennec fox.
I made 2 humanoid canid races for D&D (namely Vulpines (www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95436) and Fenneckin (www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104140).

If anyone could vote for me, I'd appreciate it. (I decided to stick with Dog due to how foxes are related to dogs.)

I would like to announce my running for Cat in the Playground.
I have been the classic kitty in these grounds for a significant amount of time, my first requested custom avatar being the one on display here - drawn by none other than the beautiful moderator Alarra herself.
Further, my name just invokes 'cat' in most chats I enter who even recognize me. Skritches, licks, vicious scratching, and "I'll gladly be pet before I bite your hand" usually follow my known entrances.
For every common avatar I've used, it's either been cat, or catgirl (and a catboy for GB), centric.

Next, even in person do I attempt to follow kitty fashion!
For example: Me with my tail and kitty ears (http://pifro.com/tempmove/IMG_000R.jpg). Whenever I get a chance to, I try to wear any of my kitty gear.

Finally, for this post, I would like to call upon the imagery I used for the last campaign I ran for:

I'd rather you didn't. Either run for a category or don't. Don't try to manipulate the contest just to get a particular shiny. The Magtok Award is meant as a consolation prize for someone who did well in the nomination but saw victory snatched from them in the polls. I think it's best we call the fourth category Platypus itP, rather than Monothreme itP. Monothreme may be more inclusive, but it's not as iconic as Platypus. And the other categories are called Cat, Dog, and Mouse, not Feline, Canine, and Rodent. Of course, feel free to stretch the Platypus category to include other platypus-like animals.

Interesting fact: the classically correct plural of Platypus isn't Platypi. It's Platipodes.

Personally, as a kitty, a didn't have to define myself blue - I chose to - and for very personal and special reasons. I think we should continue the competition normally. They both have claims, but whose is better? (It's Reinholdt's) That's kind of the whole point, as I see it. That might not be why everyone votes, (surely I, as an actual monotreme, am a better representative than Coplantor, a mere enthusiast), but I believe that it should be.

This contest was very close for me as many candidates had claims to the titles, so I based my votes on how the actual candidates voted.

In the case of SweetRein vs Reinholdt vs Cristo: SweetRein voted for Cristo, a distant third place non-threat, while Reinholdt, in a game where every vote counts, placed his vote for SweetRein. I found this to be a very nice gesture and so I placed my feather in the hat for the kitty sniper.

In the battle for dog supremacy, Wolfsbane voted for DD, acknowledging his foes worthiness, while DD voted for Boo because he thought it would help him beat Wolfsbane. I had to give it to Wolfsbane. DD, if you're afraid to challenge, you'll never be pack alpha.

As for as the mice go, Szilard was the only one who voted for an opposing candidate. While dodging the competition may be mousy, it won't get you my vote. 30 points for House Slizard!

I haven't looked at the platypus competition yet, but that's the next step. The criteria will be the same.

I don't think I could ever thoroughly express my gratitude to all those who voted for me. This one meant a lot to me. And I certainly don't think I've ever felt quite so loved and appreciated as I have with this contest.

I know when the contest first started out and we reached towards the bottom of the first page of the polls, I was almost ready to give in. My opponent SweetRein is very well known and quite beloved here and she was ahead at the time. To be honest, I didn't think I'd be able to compete.

Today, of course, I'm glad I didn't give up. And the sheer number and amount of support I received from the people here at the playground has shown me just how much I've gained from coming here. More than I expected, and definitely more than I realized.

I guess I won't be showing up and sniping you from the building across the street after all. :smalltongue:

And while I can't give everyone the thanks I'd like to give them, though I will try, I want to give a few special ones some extra recognition.

If we did the playgrounders idea for some reason, it should probably be something of a series. In which the next few contests concentrate on that, four at a time. Or at the very least make it a recurring one. Not sure if people are willing to invest like that though.

Tengu mainly posts in the Roleplaying section of the forum. (I think he also posts in the media section a lot, but I don't think I've ever seen him post here). My problem with doing another Playgrounder itP is that 4 catagories isn't really enough in my opinion (due to how many nominations there would end up being, I'd say you'd need at least 8 catagories). I'm okay with Classes itP, but I remember Lord Herman deciding against it a while back because of how sone of the catagories would end up with incredibly predictable winners.

1. When I first came to this little part of the boards I was a Elven Vampire Ninja/Wizard, sure there were some cheese problems at first, but that's what we've addressed as first charecter syndrome.

2.Every charecter I have made EVER has been a magic user, yes even that one, and most of them Wizards in the arcane aspect.

3. It's always been my motto that if beating it with a sharp stick of metal doesn't work then try sending it to the plane of oblivion instead.:smallbiggrin:
