Ok. So after being hounded by both many of my friends and random pm's from people, I've decided to put this thread up concerning this half-celestial picture of Belkar. It's in my signature so the results will be below.

Reassuring or Disturbing?

Isn't there some rule against using the character images like this?

Well, I've had this pic in my signature for a while... so I don't know if this thread would be banned.

I think the rule is about copying or altering any of Rich's actual artwork. If it's drawn and used as fan art, it may be ok. Don't go selling Belkar T-shirts, though.

Also, I'd have to vote disturbing.

Kroy
2009-04-07, 10:10 PM
Mixed. I mean disturbing, but overly.

Oh I wasn't intending too. This is 100% fan art vote.

Neither. But then, my threshold for "disturbing" got adjusted recently when I happened to click through to the "Belkar love interest" thread.

Hmmm... it would seem that you just opened up the neither vote option.

Reassuring! Now that column has a vote!

@V: That's just "Luigi" to you, bub!

Haven
2009-04-07, 10:28 PM
I was going to say mixed, but with Mama Luigi's vote there I feel I have to say "disturbing".

Animefunkmaster

The image invokes no emotional reaction from me, so neither I guess. Otherwise between the choice of reassuring or disturbing, I feel less disturbed than reassured.

Mystic Muse

WHAT?!?!?!?! HOW COULD YOU DRAW ME LIKE THIS!!!!! I"M GOING TO TRACK YOU DOWN AND KILL YOU!

I kind of find this disturbing. if Belkar's an angel roy's a demon. which might be a possibility

mockingbyrd7
2009-04-07, 10:36 PM
Neither. It's Belkar as a guardian angel. This does not disturb nor reassure me.

HamsterOfTheGod

An Epic Half Celestial Belkar with Oversized Two-Weapon Fighting and Wield Oversized Weapon dual wielding Greatswords is Awesome!

Unfortunately there's no such category. So I guess I fall into Neither.

SoD
2009-04-07, 10:59 PM
Neither. I find it amusing, seeing an alternate version of him, but neither reasuring nor disturbing.

Reassuring or Disturbing?

Yes. Yes it is.

factotum
2009-04-08, 01:29 AM
Well, we only have your word that it's Belkar as a half-celestial--could be any old random halfling, so not really disturbing at all from that point of view. (Not even wearing the same clothes as Belkar, after all).

Laughing Dragon
2009-04-08, 09:43 AM
If it's Belkar after he has changed alignment and become good, then it's reassuring.

If it's just plain old Belkar, then it's more toward the disturbing side.

Guys, these aren't really votes because I don't know what your going with.:smallannoyed:

Disturbing, very disturbing. Belkar... as a Half-Celestial:smalleek:... its just not... not possible... its not possible!!!:smalleek::smalleek: It defies everything I know about bloodthirsty (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0435.html) halflings!!! (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0439.html)

The Dark Fiddler
2009-04-08, 04:01 PM
Reassuring, definitely.

It's very nice to see him not being murderous.

Sorry, my auto-response to most x or y questions is "yes".
But here I think I have to say neither, really. Amusing is more like it.

Nenec
2009-04-08, 05:57 PM
Disturbing, really

Mewtarthio
2009-04-08, 08:38 PM
Disturbing, definately. Surely the gods have gone mad...

enarch3t
2009-04-09, 01:26 AM
Completely awesome. He would really be the Sexy Shoeless God of War!

Tempest Fennac
2009-04-09, 02:48 AM
I say neither due to not really having thoughts on it beyond it being a good drawing.

WarriorTribble
2009-04-09, 02:57 AM
It's just cute really.

Johnny Blade
2009-04-09, 03:43 AM
I say reassuring, because it implies that you can become an actual angel just by pretending not to be a psychotic maniac. That's very, well, reassuring to me.

Occasional Sage
2009-04-09, 03:52 AM
Decisively, overwhelmingly neither.

TheFallenOne
2009-04-09, 08:09 AM
[X] Awesomely disturbing

Your call where to put my vote

sysice
2009-04-09, 10:56 AM
It's both disturbing and reassuring.
That is, it's so disturbing that it's reassuring that this will never happen.

The Blackbird
2009-04-09, 11:22 AM
Reassuring, though if he really was good, I would miss all his hilarious comments.

Salty
2009-04-09, 12:50 PM
Definitely disturbing. Every time I saw it in your sig, I was disoriented for several minutes. Great detail though!

Axl_Rose
2009-04-10, 12:28 AM
Mixed. I can't decide without contexual information.

If he's in heaven... well I take it those swords are for massacre'ing purposes.

Hi everyone. Sorry for the delay on updating the current votes but my computer went to crap. I kept logging in and it said "Thank you for logging in, even though your not logged in." So while I watched you all continue voting, I was saying, "Connect, Darn You, CONNECT!!!" Then it started working and I was all happy. I decided to return a pm message to one of my friends. Then I clicked the link to this thread annnnnddd... "Hello, the forum is now closed due to the fact of the not story related comic that's out." (:smallfurious:Cussing in the background:smallfurious:)

Soooooo. Anyways, it's updated now.

Somewhat disturbing...that definitely ain't the Belkar I know.

[TS] Shadow
2009-04-13, 08:18 PM
Put my vote in "reassuring." Belkar actually looks semi-adorable in this picture!

Sequinox
2009-04-13, 08:36 PM
Reassuring, if anything. And 'nothing' is another valid choice. I guess I'm half and half.

Assassin89
2009-04-13, 08:45 PM
The picture is quite reassuring if Belkar reads a tome of understanding.

dps
2009-04-13, 11:40 PM
I found it just plain stupid, so neither.

Teddy
2009-04-14, 02:23 AM
Reassuring. Those +4 Wisdom from the half-celestial template seems to have affected him the same way Vaarsuvus's Owls wisdom does in comic 58 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0058.html).

MadScientistMat
2009-04-15, 07:30 PM
Neither - I would say I'm a bit nonplussed, but not disturbed. I kind of tend to get annoyed at cute, harmless portrayals of angelic beings, so it's nice to see one with an edge... in either the literal or metaphorical sense.

Supergwindor
2009-04-24, 04:44 PM
I'm going to go with... disturbing.

liooil2000
2009-04-24, 08:15 PM
at first sight, I thought that it was some sort of angel, but now that I know it's Belkar, it's DEFINITELY disturbing. Come on , what do you think will happen if you give a a crazy, bloodthirsty halfling two GREATSWORDS?

Blue Ghost
2009-04-24, 08:37 PM
Reassuring. It's nice to know that even Belkar has a good side.

He laboriously loads them into a cart, takes them to market, and trades them in for weapons that don't seriously overbalance him (or perhaps he can't even lift).

It's kind of cool.
I instantly came up with a back story:
Belkar dies. Since he's the shoeless sexy god of war, the various powers recognize his potential, and hire him. As mercenary he fights the blood wars for whoever pays the best.
But then a Lawfull Good deity with penchant for wings and halos gave a better offer, and now he dispenses divine justice. It's a bit odd being the dog of the law... but as long as he gets to kill things, it's all good fine.

I guess I'll mark this under reassuring then.
