Hello,
I am getting married in June and for the grooms cake, I'm wanting to make a model of one of the Order of the Stick comics. I'm trying to find out which one would be best to use and the which comics were released from Sept. 4th, 2007 to October 20th, 2007. My fiance was in basic at this time and I sent him copies of the comics that were released and they kept him going through the tough ordeal. I just thought it would be kinda neat to have this. Is there a way to get the dates and which ones were released during then? Or could you recommend a good one for his grooms cake at the wedding? Thank you so much!

The comics 484-496 are the ones that were posted during the dates you've listed. I searched on threads started by The Giant sorted by thread start date in the Order of the Stick Forum. #483 was posted in August and #497 was posted October 22, 2007.

Hope that helps.

And congratulations! (Any chance you're planning on coming to the GitP meetup in Jonhson City at the end of June? There's a link for it in my signature. /shameless self promotion :smallcool:)

So close to 500-501. . .man. . .Still, there's some touching ones in there.

Needless to say, we will want pictures! Arts and Crafts or Friendly Banter would be great places to ooh and ahh over the cake.

Yeah, I have to agree with Quincunx. Depending on how important those specific comics are, I'd have to say either the last panel in 500 or the first panel in 501 would be good choices.

You could also go with page 400, depending on your exact expectations and limitations.

Congratulations! When's the big day? Obviously June, but...?

Congratulations!

The big panels in 483, 484, the whole of 493, and maybe the last part of 496 would transfer well to frosting.

As for if they make sense for a wedding... Probably not. There's no weddings in the comic (I don't know if you also read it), but around 500 is a good place to look for some goo ones if 483-496 don't strike you.

500-501 is a wedding.

The wedding is June 6th, and I know there wasn't a wedding in any of the comics in the ones that I sent him, but it was just one of those meaningful things. Also, I'm surprising him with a giant stacked cookie cake that will be frosted as a regular cake, so he won't know what it is until he cuts it :) It's his absolute favorite and I think it will be a big hit. Thanks everybody! I'll be putting up pictures after the wedding and our move.

He's right, I stand corrected, 500 is a wedding.

Update:

Just wanted to let you guys know that this cake will never happen. 2.5 weeks before the wedding, and after 3.5 years, I get a phone call from Nevada (where his base is) and he tells me he's slept with someone else and doesn't want to get married and wants our relationship to be over.

Needless to say, it is.

Thanks for your help though, guys!

I guess... better now than after the wedding?

That sucks. I hope you're doing OK!

Woah. Looks like you dodged a bullet there, if that's the kind of guy he is. Hope you have better luck with your future relationships.
