Yeah, an OotS-style gag comic, have never seen that before... Needless to say, if you haven't played at least the OG series from Super Robot Wars, you probably won't get most of the jokes and references. So if you don't, play those games! They're worth it.

Instant approval!

(Though, if it's me, I'll empty aya's and rai's dialogue bubble from the last panel, for comic timing yakno?)

Hmm, good idea - much less B^Uckleyish that way. I'll probably change that when I make a new strip.

This is one of the most excellent ideas ever, and must be continued.

Go Tengu go!

Sorry for not making new strips, folks - I have nothing to blame but my laziness. I should be in a mood for drawing something in this week.

Wait... am I a were-Ramsoomair? Nooooo!

Oh good, I thought I had missed something. Turns out Tengu's just ultra-slow.

I haven't played the OG GBA games (playing SRW OG Saga: Endless Frontier now) but the 2nd one is pretty funny. The first one just flew TOTALLY over my head though.

Seriously though, you need to play OG2 to get it.

Just picked up OG 1 and started the path with the game champion (forget his name atm). Any tips on good things to upgrade.

Don't upgrade Gespensts or Shutzwalds - they're not worth it. When you get better robots, it's best to upgrade what they specialize in - armor for supers, evade for reals, energy for those that use a lot of energy. 1-2 steel knives and machines guns upgraded to the max will be very useful. For robots with set weaponry, it's generally best to invest in the strongest weapon, unless it's only a one-shot. Generally, if you have no idea what to spend your money on, it's best to save it rather than spend randomly.

As for skills, it's crucial to buy SP Regen for everyone as soon as possible - don't buy any other skills until you get this. After that, Attacker is a great choice, as well as upgrading Land/Air (depending on the mech the pilot is using) and Space to S. Offensive Support is good too, and SP Plus for pilots with supporting spirit skills.

Gah, I need to make a new comic soon, or my schedule will be worse than VG Cats'. And that's terrible.

Ah yes, Ryusei's path. Tengu is right, you can ignore the Gespys and Schultzwalds for the most part. Maybe one or two Mobility upgrades if they're getting shot down a lot.

Overall, Mobility is the most powerful stat to upgrade for Mechs, and Evade the most powerful for pilots. Even those who pilot super robots (Like the Grungst) can have a decent chance to dodge for most of the game, and by the latter half you're going to be hit by a lot things that can practically one shot you, making the speedy real robots a lot better to use.

If you can spare the cash, weapons are good to upgrade, but you can beat the game with minimal upgrades to them, I did the first time.

SP Regen and Mental are huge helps. Beyond that I try to get Hit & Away for the ranged types and especially battleships. In-Fight and Gunfight are also great on the right characters.

Also, if you don't care about Battle Masteries too much, there are some levels that are good for grinding with the game over trick. The trick is, that if you lose a mission and don't reset or turn off your GBA, you keep the money from it next time you play through it. You might keep the PP and exp too, I don't recall. And the trick doesn't work as well in a New Game+, but I might be confusing it with OG2, which you should also play if you can find it.

I'd actually recommend Support on everyone over SP Regen as a first skill in OG1. SP Regen only matters so much in marathon battles like you get in OG2 (or Alpha Gaiden, where it doesn't exist ;_;). Support in OG1, on the other hand, is almost broken. Attacker's also always a good bet, except on pilots you're not going to use offensively like Garnet, Radha, and Russel. They're the ones you should give SP Regen so they can spam Bless/Aid.

I got through OG1 with just the pilots who had Support naturally and didn't notice the lack, for the most part. I don't think I could really get through it without SP Regen, tho (at least, not get through it and still have my non-broken pilots survive.) Being able to spam Focus/Strike/Alert as appropriate makes life so much easier, especially for my favored tactic of flinging one pilot way out into the enemy mobs and letting them bash themselves to death on counterstrikes (cheap high-ammo weapons also help a lot there. Hello, M95.)

But you can just use Latooni for that without having to Focus-spam.

Yes Latooni is awesome. I'm currently on the mission to raid the DC base (the one where Rai's brother is in the 3rd super battleship, the one who's drill is a drill that will pierce your carrier!! (not points for knowing the reference in this thread)) and I have her in the Huckebein (I think that's right, the green one Irm used before he got his 3-form super) and she is a monster. I also really liked the mission where her big-sister character (forget her name, the one who keeps the black fighter pilot on a leash all the time) does her makeup and then Lat has to go out to fight and everyone freaks out because they didn't know she was that cute. It's a nice change of pace from the long string of boob jokes and not-so-subtle innuendo that made up the dialogue in SRT OGS: Endless Frontier.
