Hi, and welcome to The Sticks Awards!

The Sticks Awards are given to the best strips of all times, chosen by the polls here in the Playground. Read the The Sticks Awards Results Compilation (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34791) thread for more details and previous results.

To vote, simply post your favorite strip of the current 5 on the thread. You have 5 days to do it (changed by popular claim).

The poll will close on April 19th, 2:00 PM forum default time.

"Damn it! With my luck, the next gnome that I kill won't HAVE any candy!"

My vote's for 340, mainly for this line.

539. I'd like to vote for 537-9 as about the best 3 of the last 15 or so, but rules are rules, and 539 gets the edge over 537

Uggggg... Another hard choice. What with the memorium of E. Gary Gygax, the arguing with Celia, Belkar stabbing the Hobgoblin, arguing with Celia, Belkar stabbing the gnome, arguing with Celia, Haley throwing Belkar's chocolate bar over the cliff, and then one last bit of arguing with Celia.

I guueeesssss...538 for Belkar's solving of problems. "Anyone ELSE wanna discuss me creature type withe me?

539 for Haley's line in response to the death of a gnome. "I wonder if the gods would be offended if I just prayed directly to Roy for the strength to not strangle them both."

Ouch...hard choice. I pick:smallconfused:...538 for Belkar's problem solving method. "Shthunk. Anyone ELSE wanna discuss me creature type withe me?"

Belkar was very lucky that he was outside the city border.

I would also like to say thank you Mr. Gygax for creating a fun adventuring world! (or I should say, worlds)

538, for clever problem-solving on the part of both Celia and Belkar. And seriously, "Darkblood Gloomgloom"?

I'm for 340, for the exact same reason.

Wow, there all good. The Gygax tribute is my pick though. 536, 537 and 540 are SO good though. But I owe so much to Mr. Gygax, he died only a year after I started playing and I owe him more thought than that I gave him when he did pass...

539 by far.

Mmm, I say 539. However, I would've liked that this round would unanimously go to the tribute to Mr. Gygax (though it is entirely disconnected from the story so...)

Can you please bold the number your voting for as you have multiple comic numbers in your post. This makes things easier.

538, though it's quite a tough call. "Okay, well, you're a little cliched..."

"I said, ARISE dead halfling corpse that is right in front of me, and take on a semblance of life!"

And "says the man who set fire to the bandit camp." :P

539, because there's now one less gnome for the resistance to fight. Belkar logic remains awesome.

Well, a vote for Gygax it's a little unfair, so IMO it's out of contest.
the others four are all made of win... pure epic humor. But i choose 538: it has a great crescendo.

If only Gygax had died sooner so the tribute would have fallen in 526-530... (not serious) Anyway, we have a pack of 536, 539, and 540 with 538 running away with it and 537 the runt. I expected a 536-538 battle and instead 539 came closest to challenging 538, but I did call 537 being one of the runts with 540. That the latter managed to tie 536 says a lot, I'm not sure what.

Paradoxically, despite lasting longer this round produced the same number of votes as last round, suggesting vote length wasn't necessarily the problem. The longer vote time only secured three additional votes that didn't change the outcome. Still, though multiple other rounds have matched it since, this represents the most votes for a voting round since 501-505.

For context, this round produced 33 votes, 501-505 produced 35, Bot5H produced 49, and from first to last, the BotQs produced 37, 40, 49, and 41; the last group of five in the Fifth Hundred produced 27, the one before that didn't get into the second page, so this is kind of normal for a group of five. The last group of five in the Fifth Hundred to produce at least 33 votes was 486-490, and the last group of five to get more than that was 481-485, which produced 38. But three of the more epic groups of five in the Fifth Hundred (436-440, 441-445, and 461-465, which produced the eventual BotH winner) produced, respectively, 56 (admittedly after a late closure), 54, and... 32. People will vote when they'll vote, and that's driven by the quality of the candidates and the closeness of the race more than anything else. This hundred got off to a slow start but it's about to pick up...

...because we now hit the Chuck O-Chul Norris section of the Sticks Awards. 542, the first hint of O-Chul's awesomeness, is bound to be a heavy favorite. 545 is next strongest for Redcloak's plan and O-Chul's bluff (though 543 and 544 could also be dark horses), and 541 is probably the runt. If these next two voting rounds don't combine for at least sixty votes, then we can start getting concerned (unless they're both blowouts).

It's official: the Sticks Awards now has its Three Amigos. Nazzo's Batman, I'm Robin, and Silverraptor is Batgirl (you know, the one who came last, rarely pops up and often gets left out). :D

You couldn't have made it nightwing?:smallannoyed::smallbiggrin:

Nightwing would be if I started a version of the Sticks Awards for another webcomic, and stopped doing commentary for this one. Then someone else would come along and do commentary for a while, be unpopular, and then everyone would decide he had to stop, then people who haven't been involved in the Sticks Awards for a while would think it was me who'd been asked to stop and yell NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! Then someone else would come along and do commentary for a while after that. By which point you're crippled and in a wheelchair and covertly communicates with all of us while a near-mute is Nazzo's assistant and poll-closer and an ever-larger cast of characters has grown up as Nazzo's assistants and we all wonder whether or not Nazzo's really a loner if he has all these assistants. And then Nazzo appeared to die in the latest "big event" and there's chaos as people run around trying to conduct the Sticks Awards in his place but we all know he's going to come back within a year.
