I have a bit of a request to the people of the boards and thought it to expansive for the request thread.

Could someone possibly help me make some ways to get more powerful psicrystal options, like the elemental envoy feat (i happen to like the idea). It could easily be an item, a power, a feat, or whatever (even a class [i am working on the crystal adept, a manifester focused on his psicrystal]).

What i am mostly looking for is turning the psicrystal into a cognizance crystal (without taking levels in metamind), making it more useful in combat, allowing it to use weak (1st -3rd level, maybe) level powers (without taking an epic feat), and turning it into a mind blade.

This is just a friendly request and anything for it might be useful. Thx in advance to anyone that contributes to the idea.

Well, let's see... you could always crib notes from the Wizard's familiar - the Spell Compendium's Imbue Familiar with Spell Ability, for instance, could be made into a Psion/Wilder-6 (11 point cost) Power called "Imbue Psicrystal with Power".

Feats that should be easily adapted are those like Spell-Linked Familiar (http://realmshelps.dandello.net/cgi-bin/feats.pl?Spell-Linked_Familiar,all), Enspell Familiar (http://realmshelps.dandello.net/cgi-bin/feats.pl?Enspell_Familiar,all), Familiar Spell (http://realmshelps.dandello.net/cgi-bin/feats.pl?Familiar_Spell,all) (this one is your Cognizance Crystal equivalent), Spell-Linked Familiar (http://realmshelps.dandello.net/cgi-bin/feats.pl?Spell-Linked_Familiar,all) (this is a non-epic version of Familiar Spell (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/feats.htm#familiarSpell), which in turn means it can be adapted to a non-epic version of Psicrystal Power (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/feats.htm#psicrystalPower)), and Extra Familiar (http://realmshelps.dandello.net/cgi-bin/feats.pl?Extra_Familiar,all). For anything that has a prerequisite feat beyond caster level (which changes to manifester level) and the ability to summon a familiar (which changes to Psicrystal Affinity (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/psionicFeats.htm#psicrystalAffinity)), require Improved Psicrystal (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/psionicFeats.htm#improvedPsicrystal).

Adapting Improved Familiar (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/feats.htm#improvedFamiliar) would be a bit harder, as they're not exactly patterned, but you could perhaps do something along the lines of an "Animating Psicrystal" feat that lets your psicrystal "bond" to an object, which then is treated as an Animated Object (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/animatedObject.htm), with the size of the object limited based on your manifester level (as Improved Psicrystal is limited based on your caster level), retaining all Psicrystal benefits. Use CR to balance - 5th level accessible Familiars cap off at CR 2 (which would make for a Medium animated object), 7th level accessible familiars cap off at CR 3 (which would make for a Large animated object), and add a note that it can't be a magical object, and you have to obtain the object you use - but because the Wizard doesn't need to pay that (just the normal summoning costs), permit "unbonding" and "rebonding" your Psicrystal every so often.

Note: There's two different "Familiar Spell" feats - one epic, one not. The nonepic one is just an extra spell slot that grows with you.
