Hey there guys, I'm working on a update to my current take on the oots style. I was hoping you could help me identify different things that not just I could do better but also what I could do differently. Thanks for the time of those who help me out. Here be my example:

Define "differently".

Well.. Some constructive critiques... The eyes and the mouth are to close, this is a female characteristic, not a male. I think (that's a personal opinion) that the arms are too close from the body. Again, personal opinion, I think the eyes are too small.

Well, try some shadows, people love shadows! Makes you look like you know what you are doing.

Oh, and try color combinations that don't make your character looks like spiderman

I think the eyes could be bigger. Try putting him in pose instead of just standing. And slightly longer feet.

Other than that it looks pretty good.

I think one thing you can do that will greatly improve it is to make the body a little smaller.
This is the template I use if it helps at all:

Other then that I think your Oots is fine, The eye's are a little small but that's not really an issue, it's just your style.

That looks... creepy as hell...

Nothing against nameless, but I think his template is a little weird. The body of your original character was really a little big, but the body from Nameless template is excessive small and the position of the head is strange.

Try this...

Take this guy... The eyes are better. Try to make the body just a LITTLE smaller. Change the arms, they are to close to the body (my opinion). Make the legs a little more thick... and is he suppose to be Peter Parker?

Nitpicky criticism:
Body is too wide, head should be slightly bigger, arms slightly longer, arms not so close to body, arms slightly more curved, legs farther apart, feet longer, eyes+mouth bigger, and hair is awesome.
That's everything I could think of. :smallwink:

I actually like Nameless' style. It tosses it up a little, and it might be cool to see the snazzy looking characters used by a different artist with a different program.

I really like how that came out, and, unless Nameless allows you to copy it exactly, make a couple of tweaks and such, keeping your fingers ready at CTRL+Z in case you don't like your changes.

Just try out new things, and, if you can't figure it out, try looking at other's work and seeing how they do their stuff. It's what gave me my skills in both of my primary programs (Inkscape (With Mouse) and Photoshop (With Tablet)).

not too bad eh?

You have a foot that is longer than both the height and width of your torso. I'd call that a bad thing.
