Just go hang out in the abandoned page, there's tons there. I got two of mine off there, and the other two from the cave page.

Also, looks like I got a purple dorsal, a sunrise, and a white striped bug eater.

Thank you, for your advice. The fact is that I want caveborn eggs, without parent links, if it is possible, so I can breed pure lines ( except for the striped ones of course).

Also it seems that my luck today as improved!

Does anyone else not like how balloon dragons look? Or is it just me?

EmeraldRose
2009-05-02, 03:38 PM
Yeah, they're the red stripey ones right? They do look a little...fluffy? Frilly? Something....I'll still collect them though. Eventually.

Hell Puppi
2009-05-02, 06:14 PM
I'm not too found of the balloons...maybe they're just a bit too cartoony for me. I may end up getting one to complete the collection, maybe not. I probably won't end up with any dinos or mints either just because I'm not fond of them.

Yay first breeding of my daydream got me another daydream egg!

I want a sun egg :smallannoyed:

Edit- No, I'm not fishing for anyone to give me one, I'm sure I'll get one eventually, I'm just being a Whiny Mc Whinerson.

Their eggs are the ones that hover and cast a shadow. Which is awesome. But the adults look like this :http://dragcave.net/image/KTgT.gif And the hatchlings looks similar.
I probably won't get one. Like I never got one of the old pinks, due to not liking the look of them.

Put in that you are requesting help for your eggs (You can do this from the account settings section of the scroll) and then have other people post them places for you.

As far as I know, they do. However, my sunrise was picked up in the evening, and hatched some time in the morning. So I suspect that in order for me to get on that will hatch in the evening, I will have to pick it up in the morning. But we'll see...if this one turns out to be a sunset, my theory is faulty. Since I picked it up in the evening too. :smallwink:

Had a couple of duplicates this time around, and got another male sunrise to freeze. My hypothesis was correct about the sunrise (getting them in the evening for me), so perhaps one of the two I have now will be females. Trying for a male pink, as my suspicion is that the hatchling I have is another female, and I already have an adult and a frozen hatchling...

Avast, here be me dragons! (http://dragcave.net/user/TGOskar)

I feel so unlucky to have no other rare dragons other than the fully-dug Dragon Grass.

Will attempt to force-breed a Black Dragon until I get the Alternate Black. Got another Black Egg, here's hoping that it turns into either Alt. Black or a male Black to begin the dragon husbandry.

Also, finished the seven dragon recollection, all I need is to get all variants of Striped.

But yeah, not even a chicken. Those dragons need food!

I can access the server, but it appears that there may be some database corruption and some dragons (Generally, those with codes beginning with (case-sensitive) w, x, y, and z that were stolen after May 01, about 1% of dragons) may be lost. the site is now officially back up. Also, what does it mean if an egg has a hole in it?

Means that the dragon is close to hatching. The bigger the hole, the sooner it is to hatch. So don't worry, nothing wrong so as long as the egg keeps its shape.

Also, lost a named dragon on the purge. It's not one I can't get (red Dorsal), but that means I'll have to be a bit more wary. Fortunately I didn't lost the hard-sought alt. Dragongrass which is pretty much the only rare I have (trying through the same method to get an alt. Black, but pretty difficult)

It's a shame I can't ask about information for dragons. I've tried so hard to get a geode, and now I also seem to miss the Ochredrake. I get the idea for most of the others, but I apparently can't get to find a Geode.

now the write up for Ochredrakes says that they have
a wide array of mutations and interesting behaviors. and that
they only breed with other drake species. are more drake species coming up? Will Ochredrake x Ochredrake paring produce non-Ochredrakes like stone x stone = geode?

[...]are more drake species coming up? Will Ochredrake x Ochredrake paring produce non-Ochredrakes like stone x stone = geode?

That'd be good to see, but perhaps it implies a new breed of "lesser dragons", or they just did it to force people to get two Ochredrake eggs to have the pair.

UPDATE: In either case... Ochre x Ochre offspring (same Ochre, this one was frozen):
http://dragcave.net/image/B5fi.gif (http://dragcave.net/view/B5fi)

ANOTHER UPDATE: New month, new eggs? What's with that bunch of egg spamming?

http://dragcave.net/image/RgJL.gif (http://dragcave.net/view/RgJL)

This one is between Mi and Oc, so probably will be one of the few N-named dragons.

http://dragcave.net/image/XN93.gif (http://dragcave.net/view/XN93)

This one is between Da and Do, just in case.

Trying to see if I can get some more new ones. Apparently, the ocean dragon has a new variant, so it seems.

I have a couple questions, how many views does an egg need to hatch? and if you breed two gray dragons, will they always produce a gray dragon egg?

I'm planning to breed gray dragons only, nothing more, nothing less, but a lot of them in any case.

Recaiden
2009-08-26, 05:36 PM
It varies, and yes.
Seriously? I still need to collect some of the original colors!

Lubirio
2009-08-26, 05:50 PM
Well, as of yet, I don't have any, but I'm patient, and I want my breed of gray dragons to be a pure breed: two of them (without lineages) will be parents to all the rest of them . But I'm still thinking of which breed (original, no doubt) I'll do.

And what exactly does an incubator do?

EmeraldRose
2009-08-27, 04:28 PM
An incubator only makes up a box for you ith all your dragons in it. However, they are too big to post in your sig on this forum.

Example:
http://dragcave.net/incubators/incubator_EmeraldRose.png

EDIT: As I look at it again, it is not showing my entire scroll. The bottom bit is cut off....

The only problem you may run into with your breeding plan is that sometimes, pairs of dragons will refuse to mate, or will not produce any eggs.

Lubirio
2009-08-27, 04:36 PM
Well let's hope mine do . I've now got 2 gray dragon eggs without parents, the start of of my breeding, help them grow, please.

In any case, if they refuse to breed, I'll just get new ones that do...

Neotropical dragon (Neotropical? Then where is the old Tropical Dragon, anyways?)

Waterhorse dragons. Gee whiz, so suddenly we have the equivalent of a Seadra?

http://dragcave.net/image/qlmT.gif (http://dragcave.net/view/qlmT)

And Water Walkers. As you hear them. No "Dragon" afterwards; just "Water Walkers".

There's one I'm missing (the purple), which is the Dragon Horse. It looks a bit more like a horse than a dragon, or by that means a Dragonnel/Drakkensteed.

So yeah, one prediction was pretty dead on (a "N" dragon), though I was completely wrong on the premise (I failed to remember there were the Neglected dragons...), and the other one was an educated guess.

To Blaine and Bandil:

The best way to raise dragons is to use the BB Code provided at the scroll, and add each egg individually on the forum signature. Hiding it won't aid much, and incubators are mostly meant to be clicked and then to click on each dragon individually, but placing the eggs on the sig will attract more views (depending on where you place them, and how active is that place)

I mention this because some of the dragons have less than 100 views and are reaching their time limits. Oftentimes, placing them in pairs is enough; all four if the size of your sig isn't very large. Incubators are good if you know several people are going to click it, but help mostly to showcase all dragons.

This tip goes for anyone new on the dragon breeding, too.

DarkLightDragon

One question, is this the kind of thing where you have to go on every day and take care of it?

You probably have to put them in your signature and post every day or so but you don't have to go to the website that much I think. (correct me if I'm wrong).

Lord Fullbladder, Master of Goblins
2009-09-18, 08:17 PM
The geek is correct. Except, y'know, through clicking to make them hatch.

EmeraldRose
2009-09-18, 09:42 PM
Well, you can only click your eggs/hatchlings once. After that you need other people to click them for you. There's a whole ratio that the program follows, but basically, as long as you have 'enough' clicks etc, your eggs will hatch in about 3.5 days, and your dragons will mature in another 3.5. Which comes out to about exactly one week from stealing/breeding the egg to adult dragon OR dead egg/hatchling, depending on whether or not you get enough views, etc.

Yarr.

It is indeed a time consuming hobby. Especially when you consider it takes a week to hatch and mature a dragon, and you have a max of 3 hatchlings and 3 eggs at any given time. I usually stick with only 4 at a time, to make it easier to have them viewed.

http://dragcave.net/image/oE0M.gif (http://dragcave.net/view/oE0M)
These storm ones, however, are rarer. All of the primary colors got scarce, say nothing about golds and other specials.

Those "storm" ones (Gray dragons) aren't so rare rather than uncommon. They have turned pretty rare because of what happens with the system. Usually, eggs such as the green and new-pink dragons have increased because they're either the byproduct of attempting to breed rarer creations (you probably know which ones) or because of the earlier boom when they made new-pink a common egg and ascended old-pink (or Bright Pink) to uncommon status.

Problem lies in the abandoned page. If, say, everybody decided to get as many pink and green eggs and hatch them (and probably later abandon release them when adults), the weird algorithm of the game will compensate by releasing those which aren't taken and that are not already rare (meaning, it'll increase the chance of getting other dragons). However, because so many new-pink and green dragons are abandoned, the weird algorithm seems to favor them.

In theory, this should also mean black and dark-green dragons should be more common, since most people try to get their alternates.

There's some programs at the main forums that attempt to "trade" rares in exchange for catching commons, especially those on the abandoned page. That's a pretty nice way to work with that (unless you wish to take the eggs the traditional way). Also, during new-egg explosions, there's bigger chances of getting rares than usual.

STATUS: Attempting to breed alt. blacks, green-striped, and also breed alt. vines for giving up freely. Currently dealing with a potentially female albino and a fall seasonal to freeze (to complete the seasonal hatch collection)

Grabbed some autumn eggs! They're my favorite seasonals and I've been excited for them to come out.

Aye, I've been working for the 'Save the Commons' project...and have 18 pink dragons, 5 purple and around 5 mints? Seems to help a bit but every time you look on the abandoned page it's just more pink eggs :smallyuk:

3 of my dragon hatchlings have this
The hatchling seems sick. It hasn't been eating lately and it doesn't move very much in there infor area. How do I make them unsick?

That may have something to to with more clicks than views. I know eggs have a similar message when that happens. Not sure how one would get more clicks than views, but it's happened before.

Anyway:

Right now I'm breeding the older varities I have and freezing the hatchlings. Also picking up new ones when I see them, but focusing on freezing hatchlings and trying to find older varieties I didn't get.

No, there is no option for people to kill other people's eggs. However, as you saw when your egg got sick, it is possible to kill eggs/hatchlings with too many views/clicks too quickly.

In the past members of dragcave found that random people were taking the codes for their dragons and posting them on other forums where they got waaaaaaaay too many views too quickly. If the person the eggs belong to doesn't know about it (or like me, it's been through a sleep and work cycle before checking them again) the eggs could die.
