OK, so another player in our campaign is playing a Sorcerer, and she wants to get the half-Illithid template (from the Fiend Folio). However, we're worried about losing caster levels and, especially, hit dice. It's a rather high-mortality campaign, and we all need as many hit points as we can get our hands on.
So, I was wondering about the possibility of making a casting prestige class that gradually gives the half-Illithid template, while still granting casting and precious, precious hit dice. I have no experience creating PrCs, though, so I'm not sure how to balance it. Would a 10-level PrC that gives full casting and half-Illithid spread out be balanced? Too powerful? What about half caster level?
Any help would be appreciated!
