Currently, I'm playing a Druidic Dwarf in my friend's game, and we're debating what level I'll start at. What he's doing is, he'll determine my level one of two ways.

1) I write a history and depending on it's decency is where my level lies

2) We play three sessions to "act out" my history, and depending on how I fare is where my level is found

Now I have two questions. A) do you guys know of a better way to pick a level, or is this good on it's own? and B) what class and race combination would make the best kick-arse elementalist mage in you're opinion?

A) it's uncommon but it could be nice for a singleplayer game
B) The elemental savant PRC from complete arcane is made for elementalists, elf is good too

elemental Savant is a good class; Argent Savant is also a good idea. According to the text, it can be modified by using [insert favorite element here] instead of Force. I sorta made a Half-Fey/Warmage that took levels in those classes; she was a lot of fun.
