I'm trying to create a wizard for my current campaign. If I end up making one, the party should be level 20 by the time he is introduced. I'm looking for some advice on PrC.
My concept is a high/gray elf (the +2 Int, -2 Str type). When 'young', he helped negotiate a peace between one group of elves and another tribe (I'll have to work with my DM to figure out who.) He thus received the title of Star-friend, enabling me to take the Ruathar class from Races of the Wild.
Since then, he has gone into relative isolation to do his studies. For the last two hundred years, he's been in the Underdark. During this time, he has slowly shifted to evil, researching dark spells (Asvacular Mass, some Corruption spells from BoVD, etc) to ensure that he is protected and using Mindrape to 'recruit' helpers from their dreary lives to his important projects. He hopes to eventually research spells that will help keep peace in the world and believes his ends justify the means. Thus, I'm thinking LE although I could probably swing NE.
I cannot use any 'too evil' PrC since I want him to consider himself good. (I plan on him having a continuous Mind Blank by spell or item.) Also, we are fighting against a big evil which is basically controlling most of the world through various alliances and lies. If he considered himself evil or only power/knowledge-hungry, he would be working with the bad guys. I thought of a level-dip of Cleric for Knowledge domain devotion or Bard for Urban Savant (if I can swing it by my DM) from Cityscape.
What PrC or other options seem fitting? I'm in a highly-optimized party with a Psionic Warrior, cleric/rogue, and sorcerer (who might be leaving).
House-rules: most save-and-suck spells are banned, as are Dragon Magazine and Tomb of Battle (but other books are open). Incanatrix and Initiate of the Sevenfold Viels are banned. Factotum is banned, so no dip into that. I have to finish one PrC before moving into a new one.
