namely a question conerning this page:

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/pse/20020927c

the feat improved inertial armour seems to imply that there is a reserve feat - inertial armour that duplicates the inertial armour power. i can't find a reserve feat of this type anywhere at all. so what th heck wizards? what the heck?

It's from the old psionics handbook.

No, that just means you need to have the Inertial Armor power (Psion/Wilder/PsyWar 1).

If you want to pick up Inertial Armor as a feat, try the Hidden Talent feat (XPH p. 67).

For example, a psychic warrior has the inertial armor feat and has taken Improved Inertial Armor 3 times. As long as she keeps 7 power points in reserve, her armor bonus is +10. If she has only 3 power points in reserve, the armor bonus is +6.

this specifically states that there is an inertial armour feat.

which brings into question, if the 3.5e XPH introduced inertial armour as a power, does that make the feat (and therefore the improved feat from mind's eye) redundant?

I can see how it can be re-introduced to 3.5e. Just make it applicable to Inertial Armour power without 'keep power points in your reserve'.

Yes the word 'reserve'seems to be from 'power point reserve' not as in reserve feat reserve.

So it'd be read something like this:
Improved Inertial Armor [Psionic]

You upgrade your Inertial Armor.

Prerequisite: be able to manifest inertial armour power.

Benefits: Your mastery of force allows you to further improve the protective energy provided by the power. You gain an extra +1 armour bonus for every 3 power points you spend to augment Inertial Armour to the limit of 1/2 of your manifester level, rounded down. This application of the force is mentally draining to the user however, so as long as Inertial Armour power augmented this way is active you take unnamed penalty to attack roll equal to the extra bonus granted.
For example a 7th-level psion manifesting Inertial Armour could choose to augment it with Improved Inertial Armour feat, gaining +8 armour bonus instead of normal 6. For as long as the inertial armour is active however, she takes -2 penalty to attack roll due to part of her mind focusing on fine-tuning the force rather than aiming.
She could, augment the power further by the use of Overchannel feat or Torc of Power Preservation, but the maximum additional armour bonus granted by this feat can not exceed half her manifester level (+3; +4 if Overchannelled).

Or something like that I gess ;(

Yeah, in the original 3.0 psionics book, Inertial Armor was a feat, not a power. It gave a +4 armor bonus as long as you had at least 1 pp remaining (without having to spend any to activate).
