Blackclaw's Dagger of Despair
This dagger was forged in an Adamantine mine taken over by kobolds, when the leader decided it needed some 'improvements'. It has a pure black blade that just inspires a feeling of hopelessness into those who see it. Anything that takes a wound from this dagger falls under the spell Crushing Despair.
1d3+1 damage, Crit x2

It needs tweaking, probably, but its a start. It also has NOTHING to do with my kobold character in The Town, or the dagger he traded off.

If it's going to be an artifact (however minor), play off that. Make it give the wielder an Aura of Fear, or something like that. If it's not an artifact, add a price tag.

Edit: On second thought, it does seem to be a plot oriented weapon, so a price tag is rather inapropriate, as is it being an artifact. Crud.

usually, magic items change size to match the user, that's why flametounge doesn't have the total damage. because depending on who weilds it, it'll change size. usually.

It's actually just a regular dagger with a name and enchanted so that it casts a spell on a successful hit.

Yes, but as crushing despair on hit directly affects the combat effectiveness of the weapon, it would act like a weapon bonus, +2 or +3 sounds right.
