I'm running a 3.5 campaign, and the wizard just got 9th level spell slots. I can't come up with ANYTHING that nerfs his combo: Maximized, quickened, empowered ray of frosts! That's an automatic 4 damage TWICE a round!!! I hope he doesn't learn about imbue familiar with spell ability or I'm toast!!!!!!!!

Er, I hope you're being sarcastic. And if that's the case, why make a thread about it?

At first glance, seems to me the DM allowed a lot of cheesy things about lower metamagic cost on spell slot.

Am I wrong? Or Is monty right?

EDIT: nope, ray of frost. Not polar ray. Damned Italian PH. Nevermind.

:smallconfused:No way, that won't stop the dreaded Level 20 Ray of Frost build. Even if you send out an enemy with a ring of energy resistance, they'll just aim their mighty metamagicked Ray of Frost at the ground and destroy it, dropping the enemy to their doom.

And don't even think of trying to get the drop on them. Contingent Ray of Frost is too powerful.
