Hi, and welcome to The Sticks Awards!

The Sticks Awards are given to the best strips of all times, chosen by the polls here in the Playground. Read the The Sticks Awards Results Compilation (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34791) thread for more details and previous results.

To vote, simply post your favorite strip of the current 5 on the thread. You have 5 days to do it (changed by popular claim).

The poll will close on May 25th, 6:00 PM forum default time.

556 is probably the funniest

560, without a doubt.
Although my decision might be influenced by the fact that I recently read "The Odyssey" for English class.:smallwink:

560, so much. One of the funniest strips ever IMO--a bunch of really good individual gags, plus a great punchline that simultaneously comes out of left field and yet follows perfectly from the rest of the strip.

558 for me. Loved the sneaking in of a 4th ed. joke.

I pick 556. This is when being a bard comes in handy.

:elan: "Fight, fight, fight the urge to say I told you so!"

Deepkicker
2009-05-20, 09:49 PM
I want to go for the net one...
But I said it then and I'll say it now- the fusion of OoTS and Lost is beyond epic. 560!

I also enjoy this story arc, which makes the choice difficult, but I'm going to go for: 558
(...have you ever thought about how you might become closer to your god? Like, A LOT closer?)

It's hard to chose, they're pretty much the same. I vote for 558, because:
"An epic level ranger couldn't track his thought process."
"He has 'Ignorance' as a class power source."

Funny stuff, but all a bit wordy for my tastes.

557.

I think I'm going to go for 557. This part of the arc is kinda "meh" to me, but this strip was funny.

Assassin89
2009-05-21, 09:33 PM
558 for the long monologue and spider-man reference

557.

I love Elan as banjo prophet, and the pun on Cyclop in 560, but my vote is for 556.
"fight the urge to say I told you so"? priceless...

Zed the Sharp

Hmm, I thought I was going to vote for Elan's Genre Savvy in 556, but upon reread, I'll reward the cleverness of the multiple pop culture references in 560 -- several for Lost (and the Greg Initiative), plus the superheroes and the Greek connections.

560 Not the best few strips, most have a good one or two lines, but this one kept my laughing the longest.

556 for me.

(If the voting is still on, I'm too lazy to look up today's date.)

Bit of a clusterbleep here. Even 557, which took a while to get a single vote, may have tied 559 and come close to matching 558. I was actually worried about a five-way tie until a late burst for 556 and 560 to match their early popularity, but even there the race is close.

561 will get plenty of votes for the appearance of Giggles and the Elan-Orc method of resolving religious disputes, 562 for Therkla's lesson in politics and adoption of Elan's fantasies, 563 and 564 may prove to be runts, and 565 will attract votes for the callback to the Test of the Mind. I think the winner will be 561 or 565 with 562 as a dark horse, but whoever wins could end up the runt at BotQ.

wow... it's been a week from the poll's closing.
Not a problem, but I hope there's nothing serious behind the "slowness" in calculating the results (imagine a worried smile).

The slowness is in my life. Sorry about that. In fact, don't worry about these delays. They will happen here and there. I try my best to keep up-to-date, but I work in the IT area, and you can imagine how it is.

Anyway, official results. I must say that, as I was counting the votes, I saw a beautiful race between all 5 comics, and in the very end 556 and 560 got a small lead. Haven't seen that for a long time. :smallwink:

As long as you don't work for TWC in the metered internet billing planning/integration department, we won't fear for your safety/life on the job. How about that? :smallwink:

Glad to see it wasn't anything drastic.
