Weaken Body
Level: Arcane 3; Components: V, S; Casting Time: Attack Action; Range: Short; Target: One living creature; Duration: 1 round/level; Save: None; Spell Resistance: Yes

The target's fortitude fails, and they become more vulnerable to massive damage. The target's Massive Damage Threshold is reduced by 2, and they suffer a -3 penalty to saves against Massive Damage.

Sounds painful.

I had one of my PCs actually deal massive damage on a critical last campaign.

My PCs deal massive damage quite regularly, but the fort save is easy enough that they don't often drop anything with it.
Iced a yeti with one hit, though. Yay for low Con, high hp beasties!

That being said, does massive damage work on constructs?

They don't have a Con score, so no.

Unfortunate.

How would you calculate the threshold? Strength? Charisma?

D&D 3.5 PHB (page 145) specifies massive damage as being "larger than 50 hit points from a single source," and requires a DC 15 fort save.

True, but that's D&D. In Modern, the threshold is your Constitution, and can be modified by feats and class abilities. Also, it drops you to -1 rather than killing outright.

Ah, well.

It's effective in both D&D and d20Modern, it just has different effects. Nice.
