Mirrorsheen Assimilants are barely sentient constructs crafted by the natives of the Plane of Mirrors, the Nerra, for their own enigmatic purposes. They come to the Material Plane, among other worlds, where they hunt down creatures seemingly at random. They replicate the unique abilities of their enemies, and upon returning to the Plane of Mirrors, create othersiders, animated reflections, of those whose abilities they have copied. A Mirrorsheen Assimilant seem to be a huge mass of highly reflective, melted glass–except that nothing is reflected in it. However, when it affects a creature with its touch of reflection, the creature’s image is mirrored in the Assimilant, though the reflection can move freely without regard to how its original acts.

Touch of Reflection (Su)
Whenever a creature is hit by a Mirrorsheen Assimilant’s slam attack, it must make a DC 27 Will save. If it fails its save, the Assimilant copies one of its traits. It may do one of the following:
*Replace one of its ability scores with the ability score of the creature hit (It may not gain a Con score this way).
*Replace its own natural armor bonus with that of the creature hit.
*Gain one of the movement forms of the creature hit.
*Gain one of the natural attack forms of the creature hit.
*Gain one of the extraordinary special attacks or qualities of the creature hit.

The abilities gained are only temporary. After 8 hours, the Assimilant loses all its replicated traits. In addition, upon returning to the Plane of Mirrors, it also loses all its replicated traits, and an Othersider–an oppositely aligned double–of each creature it had copied the traits from is born.

Engulf (Ex)
A Mirrorsheen Assimilant can mow down Colossal or smaller creatures as a standard action. It cannot make a slam attack during a round in which it engulfs. The Assimilant merely has to move over the opponents, affecting as many as it can cover. Opponents can make attacks of opportunity against the Assimilant, but if they do so they are not entitled to a saving throw. Those who do not attempt attacks of opportunity must succeed on a DC 33 Reflex save or be engulfed; on a success, they are pushed back or aside (opponent’s choice) as the cube moves forward. Engulfed creatures are affected by the Assimilant’s touch of reflection each round and are considered to be grappled and trapped within its body. The save DC is Strength-based.

Reflective Spell Resistance (Su)
Whenever a Mirrorsheen Assimilant successfully resists a spell that specifically targets it, there is a 25% chance that spell will be turned back on its caster, as the spell turning spell.

Mirror Gate (Su)
Once per day, a Mirrorsheen Assimilant may transform any mirror or reflective surface with a diameter of at least five feet that it touches into a gate to or from the Plane of Mirrors, caster level 16th. Normally this gate may only be used for transportation, but once per week the Assimilant may use it to summon any creature native to the Plane of Mirrors.

Construction
Creating a Mirrorsheen Assimilant requires knowledge of certain magical practices unique to the Nerra. For a non-Nerra to learn them, he must either make a DC 35 Knowledge (The Planes) check, or be told the practices by a Nerra. An Assimilant’s body is made from 3,000 pounds of melted glass, worth 15,000 gp, creating the body requires a DC 20 Craft (Glassblowing) check.

CL 17th; Craft Construct, gate, mirror image, spell turning. Price 100,000 gp; Cost 65,000 gp + 4,000 XP.
