I've decided to ressurect Cantrip!

Cantrip
Universal
Level: As Prestidigitation
Components: V, S
Range: Short
Effect: See text
Duration: Usually instantaneous; see text
Saving throw: See text
Spell resistance: See text

This spell can create a variety of effects, one per casting. It can create small (coin-sized or so) objects worth no more than a silver piece that disapear within 1 minute (5 rounds for expensive materials), give people nosebleeds, summon one normal uncontrolled insect, or do all sorts of minor effects. They can be slightly more powerful than those Prestidigitation allows, but can never directly harm a creature. For example, you can't create a rock being flung at high velocity at an opponent to damage it, but you can create a small lump of lead that presses a button that opens a gate that releases some sort of monster, or something like that. If it affects a creature, spell resistance applies and the creature gats a Will or Fort save (depending on the effect) to negate it.

This recreates the Cantrip spell for 3.5. Questions? Comments? Ideas?

Wow. Awesome. This was my favorite spell back in 2nd ed.
Good on you for recreating it.

That one I kind of like. The other, not so much ... it's like "Cantrip, but better, for no cost."

Draz, which one do you not like?

It can ... give people nosebleeds ... but can never directly harm a creature.

Is a nosebleed not harm, if caused by a directed spell? I wager a hemophiliac would think so.

So would summoning a bee if that person was deathly allergic to bees. You can't possibly take all these things into consideration when making a spell. I'm pretty sure you could find a little loop hole like that in all sorts of spells.

Though I did laugh when I read your post. :smalltongue:

Perhaps I'm simply missing something, but how is this truly different from Prestidigitation, other than the "create item of 1 sp in value for 1 minute" part?

To answer the question of the guy above me: It creates ONE effect.
